Forty one year old fuel pump

Should I be concerned with fire or explosions from the 41 year old original electronic fuel pump in my '85 camaro? I'm wondering if the insulation on the terminals and wires have deteriorated over the years and present a fire hazard or worse!! Has anyone ever heard of an old electronic fuel pump causing a fire or explosion???THX...Joe

Re: Forty one year old fuel pump

A fire ain't going to come from it being old and still in use. You bigger concern is the fact that it's old and likely to leave you stranded somewhere.
