A 4 bolt will be stronger. A short block doesn't include intake, carb, dist. that kind of stuff. I'm not sure if it contains heads either. But a long block contains heads, distributor. Again not sure if it contains carb and intake, I'm sure someone else can be more elaborate.

a four bolt main has four bolts holding the main caps on....hence the name. Two bolt has two bolts per main cap. The long block comes with the heads and sometimes the intake and carb. The short block is the block and the bottom end and thats all. four bolt mains as mark stated are going to be stronger unless you take a two bolt and make splayed caps. These are the strongest. The outer two bolts go into the block at an angle adding extra support and strength. Can you get the numbers from that roller engine tallboy?? If so I can look them up and tell you everything you want to know.
