w00t! Car Running 14s now
My dad surprised me with a new intake and msd ****. We just slapped that **** on and gave it a run, omg, the thing hauls now. Low end torque is awsome and has pretty good high end torque. I tested my horsepower with those new G-tech things, those things are pretty nifty, but the ET times look a little incorrect, it says I would run a 13, but we ran it at 14 on the strip. But my exhaust is making really anoying popping noises wheneve rI rev it in park or neutral, it backfires really bad when I yellow line it but when I just rev it up a little it pops like pocorn. Whats wrong with that, my springs are new and also my valves, except the valves were used.
Hot man! I particlularly like the popping noises, unless its really loud and prolonged. Heck even I got a little pop here and there at park/neutral, its minimal but it sounds cool. I dunno if this popping is good or bad, but I like it. However last year at my school, some kid had a new TransAm, really suped up. It was really loud, and everytime he let go of the gas, it would pop pop pop pop, it was really loud, and prolonged, it sounded pretty good, but the way his sounded, made it sound like it was out of tune.
I believe it pops because exhaust gases are exploding in the exhaust. I think its due to the fact of quicker moving exhaust, it moves so quick that its not fully done exploding in the cylinder, and blows a lil in the exhaust. Usually this has to do with the timing.
I'm curious what exact intake ya get? What MSD stuff ya get? Ya say your car really hauls now... I wanna get the stuff ya put in.

By popping do you mean a backfire? If so then that's not good. Do you have any exhaust leaks?
By the way, that's pretty impressive times for a 305.

If that were track times then yes traction was a huge problem. But G-Techs measure your trap speed at exactly 1/4 mile instead of avgeraging. So typically they are a little higher than the track.

Just about every LT1 I have heard did that including the one I owned I hated it. It got on my nerves so bad but I took the T/A tips off it and it cut it down some but it is really annoying when you want to rev somebody and when you do it just revs and then pops like 5 times.
