Do you want to date her or be her mechanic? If you want to date her, just ask her out and forget about fixing her car. If you want to be her mechanic, then get the appropriate manuals and MAKE SURE you charge her a fair price.

The one thing NOT to do, is "pretend" be her mechanic when you REALLY want to date her. You may just find yourself working on her car while she's out on a date with her boyfriend, only to get a "hardy handshake and a peck on the cheek" when your finished.

personally i've got one bad experience (thanks fern and a handshake) and one good experience (do to me as you wish fern)
