Torque to HP formula- Cant find it!
Torque to HP formula- Cant find it!
I am looking to get the formula that you can calulate horsepower, where torque and rpm would be the variables. I am planning out a couple of small block combos, and I need this formula to eventually get the cfm of the heads. Anyone know it or where to find it?
Thanks!!! Here is the math I did with it-
HP = torque x rpm/5252
=500 lb.ft (5000 rpm) /5252
=2500,000 /5252
=476 hp
My goal it to have a powerband that hovers around 500 lb.ft, until 5000 rpm. Therefore my max hp would be at 5000 rpm. I needed the max HP to put it to AFR brilliant formula:
hp = cfm (0.2575) (8)
476 hp = cfm (0.2575)(8)
476 hp = cfm (2.06)
476 hp/2.06 = cfm
231 = cfm
There fore I need 231 cfm, at least, to feed my 500 lb.ft small block.
Any thing wrong with my math?
