305 TPI Vortec

I posted this under "TPI", but got no response, maybe it'll do better here!
I have a 91 305 TBI 5 speed, I have a buddy with a 305 TPI out of a 88 Firebird, ECU and all wires. I am thinking of buying the TPI off him. I have done some reading on this site and decided to go with the SDPC Vortec intake and Vortec heads. What cam do you recomend for max power on a 305 Vortec, when buying a cam, do you look at the engine or heads for size? Also, why do the Auto TPI setups put out less HP than the manual ones? Is it just the cam or something? Also, what problems may I encounter trying to use the wiring harness from a 1988 Firebird on my 1991 RS, should everything still hook up, will the speedo be jacked, or will that also hook up? And the Air Bag, does it work off the 1991 computer, or will it still work? This will be a HUGE job, I am aware of the fuel pump/lines needing to be changed, does anyone know of any other problems I will encounter, all help is greatly appreciated, Thanks!!!
Matt

I did the swap. but I had a 89 rs 305 tbi and a 92 350 tpi.

I had to change the entire dash out for the wiring and instrument to work. I also changed the fuel pump because the tpi system require more fuel psi. The dash brackets on the 89 had to be replaced with the 92 brackets. I couldnt beleive they were different. The swap wasnt too bad but you have to pay attention to how the wiring harness hooks up.

I am glad that I did the swap but I was wondering If I should have just buit a carb 350. The aftermarket parts are cheeper.

Dont get me wrong, I love the tpi and it is reliable. The 350 was is a real tire burner.
.

good luck!!!
