What size diameter flexplate (flywheel)

I am starting an engine swap and thinking about ordering an SFI approved flexplate for use w/ the stock TH700.
wondering what diameter that is? (I thought 12.5")... will be going in an 89 TA

They are usually referred to by the number of teeth.

You want 153 teeth for the stock-type starter (I believe that is 12-1/2"). You also need to keep the rear main seal type in mind, as the two different crank types use different flex plate mounts.
