Has anyone ever had this happen before??
I decided to do a tune up on my car today. And when i took the distributor cap off The point on the inside that connects to the coil wire was rubbed off or burned off flush to the inside of the distributor cap. I am not sure if anyone will understand exactly what i am talking about. but if you do, do you have any idea how it happened and is it something i should worry about?? Thanks.

It sounds like the rotor button was not pushed all the way down on the distributor shaft. I found that the tan Accel hi-performance cap and rotor was famous for that. I switched back to a good quality cap/rotor from NAPA.
Just make sure the rotor is seated properly on the dist.

Okay, as long as i am not the only one. Also i had the accel high performance cap and rotor too. I wonder if that is a common problem with their cap and rotors? Also is there any real important difference between the accel piece and a stock piece. I mean is it worth the extra money?

Go for a cap with copper terminals instead of aluminum. Non-metal rotor screws aren't a bad idea, either. Cover those bases, you'll have good parts, no matter who made 'em.

That button on mine had enough carbon to bore a hole right through the rotor...my car quit running...as I was trouble shooting the ignition I found one of the wires that connect to the spark modulator was broke where it goes into the dist. shaft....just a point to check if you have ignition problems...
