Smoke coming out of my tailpipes when I accelerate hard.

I have clouds of white smoke coming from my tailpipes when I get on the throttle hard.
My engine temp is at 160*.
I have an oil leak from the timing chain cover.
Oil PSI stays around 28-32psi but goes down to about 20 or so when I am low on oil.
Haven't checked the coolant level since the car stays pretty cool, but I'll check it today.

What could be the problems?
I put on used 87 TPI heads, looked pretty good, but didn't know the exact condition they were in, I just slapped them on the car.
I can't really tell if the smoke is totally white, but I think there is a blue tint to it.

Also, the exhaust smells like gas and people have told me it is running very rich.

Here is a video of the car. Motor was still a little cold but in the middle of the video when I am driving away you can see the smoke coming out of the tail pipes when I step on the gas.

Thanks Guys.

zepher, do you smell oil burning? if so it could be your valve seals/guides, does it smoke blue when you start it after sitting? the black smoke is from running really rich but that can cause it to wash the oil away from the cylinder walls and burn it, my suggestion would be figure out why it's running rich and fix it, then see if it smokes on hard throttle.

I'll have a new ECM on the way this week, one I have has a bad serial data port so I can't scan the ECM to see what it's doing.
Car is either in Limp Home mode or Open Loop.
Car runs great, besides the poor mpg and smoke from the pipes.

Engine bay smells like burning oil due to the fact that the oil is burning off of the headers and exhaust, but the exhaust just smells like gas.

So these are stock heads from an '87? I'd go with what 86Z said and try and fix the running rich and oil leak first, then work from there. If it is the heads, you could get a set of those World S/R Torquer 305 heads Good luck mi amigo.

Gennerally when a car burns oil under a load it's the rings. If you are smelling unburnt fuel then you are running too rich. How many miles on the engine? Any mods?

I say when you get on it hard you have poor intake gasket sealing and it going up through there.

How did you torque down the intake?

Engine has 150K miles on it.

I torqued the bolts down pretty tight and used RTV on the front and rear of the intake manifold.

I have a 350 block in my garage that I am probably going to build up and slap into my T/A, nothing too extreme.
I am going to save up money and build up a sbc 400.

Pretty tight as in 45 ft/lbs in correct sequence? Is the 350 a roller block? Im in the market for one of them, as my 305 with similar mileage has given me some smoke at times(not under accelleration). Not sure of the problem yet.

I took a look at that video. It lookes like your car is running too rich. The smoke appears to be grey and black. Try some leaner jets.

yeah put some smaller jets in your fuel injection rail, that will solve the problem, lol. like previosly said fix the oil leak first im not sure if your car has a cold start injector, but it or the other injectors could be leakin. i like the idea of u puttin a 400 in.

OOPS! I thought the car was carbed. I must have mixed it up with another. Nevertheless, if it has an AFPR the pressure could be turned down to help lean it up. Otherwise it might need reprogramming to compensate for the cam.

I still have the cold Start Injector in the rail even though it isn't being used. could that be causing the rich condition?
I totally forgot about it.

I did the correct torque in the correct sequence.

My 350 is a non-roller block, 72 vintage.

I am running a 91 Speed Density setup now, there is no connector for the Cold Start Injector on the harness anymore.
