help !!!!!!!with engine swap problems and specs
i have a 85 trans am 305 tpi , i am swithing the block to a 72 camaro z28 350 , its board 60 0ver and im getting a mild cam , domed pistons tp raise the stock compression from 8:1 to 10:1 porting and polishing the 194 heads hooker headers and flowmaster exaust and putting the tpi system with 89 nvette injectors . i was wondering if i have to burn a new custom chip to run this engine or just get a 350 chip . and was wondering what the estimated horse power would be and the 1/4 mile , plus 1m using a turbo 400 and 342 posi rear end

I would be willing to bet you will get 275+ hp if its set up right. I think you could run it with the 350 chip but a custom will take you a little farther.

i'd expect 190 to 210hp at the tires and high 14's from your set up. just where you expecting to just get a 350 chip for that set up that isn't custom?
RedTail,
The '85 TPI used teh Delco digital MAF and the older style ECM. The only factory EPROM you're going to find for that would be from a Corvette 350 TPI. It will probably get you running, but the control system in '85 was nothing to get all woody over. A custom PROM might help, but conversion to a later ECM might be a better solution overall. If it were my car, I'd tend to bypass both the '86-'89 MAF system and '90-'92 speed-density systems, and hunt for a '93 PCM with MAF/MAP, but that's just me.
