383 stroker help

Hey, I'm still relatively new to engine building, so I was just looking for some advice. I have the block from an 84 vette, and I'm going to turn it into a 383 stroker. I already have the machinist lined up and everything, I just need help figuring out what kit to buy.

If anyone has any strong reccomendations about where I can get a good stroker kit for less than $1500 bucks, that would be nice.

I'm not looking for forged everything, I just want something that will put me around 400-450 hp without putting my credit card over its limit.

Thanks
peace
Muzz

Moving this to the general engine area. You will get more feedback there.

I just had mine built, and with forged internals and and labor it cost me 3500, but I got charged only 50 an hour as aposedf to 65 cuz I knew the guy. One warning I should give to you that was given to me by my mechanic is you get what you pay for. If you buy a really cheap kity it is going to cost you a fortune to have it balanced. and the MOST IMPORTANT part of an engine like that is the bearings, don't sheap out, they are cheap to begin with, but use really good bearings. that is all the advice I have. good luck

If all you want is 400-450 hp you can get an entire short block for less than 1500 if you shop around, for that kind've power level you don't need anything fancy. If you've already got the block, If you can reuse the stock rods, crank will run you around 350, and a set of hyperuetectic pistons for a couple hundred and your set to go.

Check out Jeg's they have Eagle stroker kits that are within your price range. I'm also curious if you're going to use fuel injection or a carb for this motor, that'll make a big difference in the power you make, and if you use the FI, it'll cost more for it to make the power that the motor is capable of.

i got a good 400 crank balance and flexplate for the 383 stroker setup you can have for 300$, you can reuse your stock rods and just get a diffrent piston, this is the cheapest way to go, no need for insane exotic stuff untill your realistly over 500 HP
