what would it take to get a 9 seconed 4th gen camaro
my cousin has a 1987 collectors grand national that i want to sell to make a camaro i want it to possibly be supercharged or turbo what what i came up with was buying a vortech supercharger for the lt1 with the after cooler and switching to the lt4 hot cam with headers and such i would figure on buyinga t-56 and then possibly change the gear but i figuer the GN has like 30,000 miles on it and will prolly be worth 17+ thousand so with that buget give me your input thanks

With the power it would take to run 9s you would go through more T-56 trannys than you could shake a stick at. It would seriously take approx 750+ hp and one heck of a suspension. There is a guy with a 9sec thirdgen with a turbo 305 tuneport engine.

A 9 second car needs a chassis inspection among a host of other safety equipment. The driver needs a special drivers permits also.

You will also get more power if you keep the Auto and put a high stall in it.
A buddy of mine has a 98 Z with MM Stage 2 heads, MM cam, full exhaust, 150 shot, Yank 4600 stall, and ET Streets.
Runs 11.20's on the motor and 10 something on the gas.
408RWHP on motor and 480RWTQ, 480RWHP and 650RWTQ on the gas.
There are a few cars in my area with similiar setups running low 11's on motor.

Well John beat me to the NHRA chassis cert. every three years, and the comp. drivers liscense. There is a lot of other safety equipment that would also be needed to be NHRA legal. This would run into the thousands of dollars, before the motor work.

actually t56s hold up behind 700+ hp vipers and 650hp vettes
They do not instantly fail at their torque ratings (nor do T5s).
GM requires the drivetrain to run 24hours continuously for 100K miles at the rated torque (450ft/lbs for a t56) and very few cars are driven that hard.
your just going to have trouble going thru the gears that quick.
Not many 9second manuals here

But a few 10s
