need help with timing chain selection
I have a '91 L98 and need a new timing chain. What I need to know is how can I tell if one will work on a roller engine if it's not specified? I saw one set for rollers but it said it's only for rollers up to '90, so do I need to find a set for rollers 91+?
What's the difference between double roller and true roller?
Would I need a set with three key ways or 9? Or either? Which is preferable and what are the keys for?
PS: are cloyes sets any good? i see them in performance catalogs but they're cheap so i dunno. What's a good set for $40-50?

as long as u dont switch out cams and go edelbrock and brand should be fine. get a double roller. if u get a new cam and go edelbrock they bone u and make u get their timing chain. any others wont be correct timing with an edelbrock cam. trust me i found out the hard way. when i swapped cams i went through 3 different brands before i read the instructions for the cam and found out i had to have an edelbrock one. plus it was like 80 bucks
I'm a little partial to the single roller sets, with the larger true roller chains (with real bearings) and a lot larger chain pitch. The weight is virtually the same as a double roller set and they are quite a bit stronger.
