Do I need a carb spacer with this setup?!
Do I need a carb spacer with this setup?!
Got rid of my old Weiand Intake, thru on an Edelbrock Performer Intake and have the 1405 Edelbrock Carb.... Do I need a spacer? With the Weiand I was using a spacer, just wondering if it is still needed? Thanks....
383 smoka if you have a 383 you will need much more than just a regular Performer intake to make that engine breathe. We like to breathe, unfortunetly alot. Thats why the best bang for a buck on a 383 is a good set of heads.
List your engine specs & vehicle specs & we'll see if you will benefit from that spacer.

I think I am gonna go with Stroked-Z on this and say that you likely don't have enough intake or carb for that engine to realize it's full potential - depending on heads and cam of course. Need specs......

The answer to your question is NO
You should have gotten the performer RPM. It all depends on what cam and heads you running like previously said. But I'm almost positive that a little more carb and a higher rise would help. what are the specs???

I no longer have the 383.... Im running a rebuilt 350 originally from an EL Camino.. Im not sure whut heads it has but it has roller cam, chain, and 1.6 rockers... Performer intake, 1405 performer carb..... I talked to the dudes at edelbrock and they said with the intake and carb, i dont need a spacer?!
well with a 350 it's a different story, well what kind of spacer is it!? like a 1 inch spacer, if thats the case then it's for atomization purposes and that ='s more hp so I would leave it on, but its it's somethin different then i wouldn't know.

Besides allowing the air more distance to turn into the runners, some spacers create a heat insulator between the carb, and intake. This can reduce vapor locking, and allows a cooler charge to enter the intake.
With the Performer, YOU MUST USE a divided spacer, and not an open spacer.
