My camaro is turning to crap "please help me"
ok about a week ago my car was bogging down really bad and had a bad idle, i took it to the shop and they said my tps sensor " i have a 84 Q-jet 4bbl carb" was burnt out. so i replaced it, but now it's running worse than before! it wont go past 15 mph, the mechanics now say its an electrical problem, what else could it be???
87,
Before you flush away your problem car, let's see if we can get a handle on the problem.
The TPS sensor on an E4ME/MC shoudln't cause that much of a problem, even if it is completely dead. I had an '85 305 and unplugged the TPS. It generated the friendly "little yellow light" on the dash but I drove it that way for two weeks before I pulled the carb for repair. It ran just about the same as it did before the TPS failed, but was a little on the lean side on take-offs.
If your car is that bad, you have more problems than just a TPS sensor or circuit problem.
Did the TPS and mixture control solenoid get adjusted after the TPS was replaced? Has the float level been checked? When was teh fuel filter changed last? Last tune up?
Does it start easily? Does it run on after the ignition is turned off? Does it backfire or pop in the exhaust? Does it knock when accellerating?
A little more background and description of the problems might give us a better idea.

Like Vader said more info. It could be a lot of things. One idea is, if the cat is stock, and severly clogged, couldn't it cause this problem?

I do not know if they got adjusted or if the float level was checked, I assumed they did but I will ask my mechanic, My Camaro has a brand spanking new rebuilt Q-Jet with a brand new fuel filter, as for the other fuel filter, I was planning on that, i have had this car for about a month and i bought it from an elderly couple in thier 70's oil was changed every 3k miles, the transmission fluid is ruby red PERFECT, the oil looks clean as hell, new plugs, new 8.6mm wires, new fuel pump, i say it's tuned up the whoo ha and very well kept, it started acting up like this about a week ago, it was just minor at first it would idle at about 5-400 rpm and die, then if i tried to accelerate it would bog down really bad, the wierd thing is it only did this every once in a while, one minute it would do it, then as soon as it started it would go away and work prefect, it has had the same mechanic for like 6 years, he knows everything about the car, and he is even confused, the reason it has a new carb is because the old one broke and flooded the engine with gasoline, they needed to let it dry out. the problems started when the new carb was put on.

yes it has a stock cat & yes i am thinking it may be clogged. but could a clogged cat dp this much damage?
any other questions?

A clogged cat will cause loss in power due to the restriction of the exhaust. If severe enough can really cause some major performance problems. I would get under to see if it is glowing red/orange when the car is warmed up, this is one sign that it's clogged. If not go ahead and take it off anyway, wouldn't hurt to check it out.
