If a 400 rotating assembly is balanced with an automatic flexplate... would it need rebalancing for a manual transmission flywheel ?

yes give new flywheel and old flexplate to machinist at balance shop and say "i would like this flywheel balance matched to this flexplate" also, while you are there give him the pressure plate that you are planning on running and say "could you zero balance this also?" any internal bal. small chev. flywheel can be converted to the imbalance required by the 400 external balance by any competent engine balance shop-75.00 including match to flexplate

Well... I wish it was that easy. I ordered a rotating assembly from an internet company. They will balance it using an 8 inch balancer and an automatic flexpalte. I asked them if they can get a 400 flywheel and use that but they said they're very hard to come by. I plan on buying the Hays 400 flywheel from Jegs and bolting it on. OR get a 350 one and unbalance it.

cant you drop ship (or just ship) your chosen flywheel to whoever is balancing your motor? it would be a much easier and eliminate a few chances for mistakes to happen. if its possible you should try to wait until all of your ducks are in a row. the 400 rotating assy is being balanced by this company on the net? local shops are a better bet for machining jobs. if poop hits the fan you know where to go. call a wrecking yard get a serviceable flywheel off a 305-prolly 50-75 bux. ship it over to them, or do they get confused when the 350\400 flywheel job comes up in conversation?(bad sign about the "balancing" work they do) is it just that you are far away from a good shop? just get the parts and find a shop to do the whole shebang at once-you probably know that already

From what I know... a REAL 400 flywheel is 14 inches. This won't fit in the T5 bellhousing I need to use. Drop shipping it would be an option too. Maybe I'll just get all the parts and balance it here locally. Thanx
