Buying stuff off EBAY???
Buying stuff off EBAY???
I would like to get (nice 2.02) complete heads, roller cam, roller lifters, pushrods, and roller rockers. I have seen all this stuff on EBAY and could probably get it for less that 1/2 of buying it new. Has anyone ever bought stuff off ebay and had good luck or bad luck? Any tips or things to watch out for? I would really rather drop under $1000 instead of $2000.

the car i just bought from ebay was advertised as an iroc but when i got it home i found that the guy just put the iroc wheels, nose and iroc tag on the dash. the guy sold it through the dealership that he works for so i'm now in deliberations with his manager about getting money to replace the missing iroc suspension/steering parts. but i've also had good luck on ebay with parts too.

I've gotten a lot of good car stuff off ebay. Definitley check a seller's feedback to see of others have had problems with the seller. Also, email them and ask questions. How quickly and intelligently they respond is usually a good indication as to whether or not the part is junk.

I bought my 1990 Iroc-Z off Ebay. It had some problems, but most of the stuff is because I'm a bit picky about the performance of my cars.
If you're paying more than 500 for something off Ebay, I'd recommend using the escrow service.

I bought my '83 Z off of E-bay. Like anywhere else, you have to really check out wht you are getting. Check out your seller, ask pleanty of questions. My car is a big 'ol flaming turd, but I knew it was gonna be. I mean, what do you expect for $900.00?! I was just looking for a base to restore for my son and that's what I got. A complete '83 Z that has bee ridden hard and put up wet, but it'll make him a nice first car, when finished. It came with ridiculously offset 14-inch Cragar S/S mags, so the first thing I did was jump right back on E-bay and found the proper 15-inch alloy 5 spokes for $100.00. But, I digress. Long story short, you get what you pay for, but as long as you know it you'll be okay

Thanks! Lots of good honest input
Sounds like there is good deal to be had if your carefull. Are the heads and valve train components I am looking for safe to buy used. I know with a flat tappet cam you need to keep the lifters pushrods and rocker all in order if it is used. Will the same be for the roller setup?

I found my GTA that was located relatively close by on ebay . I was mildly interested but I didn't bid on the auction but the reserve was never met. I called the seller about the car and we hashed out a deal outside of ebay. The only problem i found on it when i came to see it and pick it up was that someone stole the nose emblem.

It seems that half of my car came from ebay. When you do a search just type in 82-92 and alot of stuff comes up. Nothing but good dealings so far with ebay.
E-bay is a good place to find stuff BUT,(and that is a big but) like the other guys said check feedback, ask questions, keep an eye on the shipping costs, AND check local pricing. (salvage yards and even the dealers parts departments

have bought (and sold) a lot of stuff on there and have had no problems with the quality of the parts i bought. did a 1600.00 blower purchase once and it went good-gotta say though-i was a bit nervous till the boxes showed up with the parts in them. BUT the topper is-the friggin thing even worked-still does!!!!!
