What's the easiest way to do this??

I'm changing the spark plugs on my 305 TBI and I'm just wondering what's the best way to get at them? I have the stock exhaust manifolds along with all that smog crap so access is limited. I do have a ramp, so I can get the car up safely. Also, which ones are easy from the top and which ones aren't?

I'd say the easiest way would be to try it yourself and see what you can and can't get to up top. Depending on the size of your arms and hands will play a factor. With headers I have to get under the car for the #6 and #8 plugs.

Well I'm not braging, but it only takes me 20 min. to change plugs.
I also dont have any smog crap or air tubes and no A/C, so...
That would suck having to jack up the car to change plugs, yuk.

i can do all 8 from the top using a spark plug socket, a ratchet, and on select plugs, a very short (1.5") attachment. Actually what i use for the attachment is the socket (not sure what size) that will fit over the spark plug socket. It takes me 30-40 minutes with plug wires, etc.

it takes me about 20 minutes to change spark lugs in a third gen, but i've done alot of them. first time took me 3 hours. main thing to remember is no. 7 is easier when jacked up. all the rest aren't too bad with the rachet under the manifold. number 5 i use the spark plug socket and a socket over the hex end.

Well, I got the first 2 on the driver's side from the top, then I went underneath and got the rest. It actually wasn't that bad except for all the blood rushing to my head and blood running out of my arms. You also have to remember that these plugs have never been changed in the 11 years the car has been on the road. To me the boots were harder to get off than actually taking the plug out. Next week I get to do it all over again, because I'm changing out the wires, which should be easier I hope.
