Did any of you reuse your stock hydrolic roller lifters or did you get new ones. I want to know if I should get new ones or if the ones I have are good enough. My motor only has 91k on it. If i can save $200 on lifters I will be able to get something else like roller rockers so just let me know what you think I should do.

Change them. Them lifters will destroy a new cam. They're already matched to the cam you have now. Or you might be able to get them resurfaced. I did that once with a set of solid lifters.

I reused old the lifters in both my camaros. The motor in my IROC has seen over 8000 miles since the cam change. The motor in my '69 has over 3000 miles since the cam change. I did not have any problems with the lifters. Both engines have factory roller lifters.

Oh ya, I wasn't thinking of roller lifters. Too new for me.

Reusing roller lifters is not going to hurt anything. But I would recommend that you replace yours if you can allocate the funds, as you have a fairly decent amount of rounds on them and they don't last forever. The springs inside them wear out over time and will allow slight amounts of play in the valvetrain at times (especially with a more aggressive camshaft) which translates into a noisey valvetrain.

You can reuse your old lifters as long as the roller wheels turn smoothly. However, as Matt87GTA said if you have the money, get new ones. You can pick them up for about $150 or so and then you will not have to worry about them.

I reused my old ones when I rebuilt my motor (had a 145,000 miles on them). So far so good, but I do hear one of them tick once in a while....kind of wish I replaced mine!

Good luck,
Mike

I'd advise replacing them if you have any trouble removing them from their bores. If that varnish is around them, think how it is inside of them.
