I need to replace the column in my T/A, and my mechanic is saying whoever he's getting it from is saying that he can only get it from an 82 or an 83. I would think it should be something more like 82-89 or 82-90, whenever they started putting in airbags should be when they changed the column, right? anyone know? I kinda need the info quickly!

 

Well I have a 86 column in my 83 car right now.... only been in there for 12 years and 140,000 miles or so, so I'm not really sure yet if it fits and works... I think I did have to change the ignition switch or something though

 

a steering column's a steering column, just try not to end up with a non-tilt column shifter

 

Come on now. These are GM's. Everything about GM is for cheap. There is now way GM would change the steering column unless there were massive complaints about it.
