My camaro (355) was running consitant 13.1's @ 4900ft altuitude corrected it was running 12's. This season it would have been low 12's non corrected time if it wasent for an A-hole driver. It cost about 2k for the engine and components carb, ign system ect. Its fairy easy to build a 305 to run 12's it just not cost effective IMO.
The Firebird in my sig is expected to run mid/high 13's altitude corrected mid/high 12's and gets 18mpg city.

If you want to run 12's heres an idea,

Buy a LS1 car j/k

But seriously Ive seen projects that have gotten so expensive. Try more displacement...like a 400. If you stuff a built 400 into a thirdgen and arent running 12's you are either a moron, or have extreme traction issues.

Lol!!! to both things!

Weight and tranction are major issues for sppeds like that. Cubes are your friend! But a 355 will do the job. 400 hp (at the wheels) would make a stock bodied car go that fast.

If you ae funning a TPI set-ub with a Th-700 you will only do 12s with a Super Ram.

bull, ask 90Z28SS. he was running 13.1 on a basicaly stock motor with bolt ons. Im sure my car would have easily pulled down a 13.5 last year if my trans was working. heads and cam on my car set for TPI and putting it on a slight diet, im sure i could eaisly pull mid 12's on motor.
