hey guys. i came across a problem today. i came out of the mall and my car wouldn't start. it will turn over, and over, and over, but it seems like its either not getting fuel, or not getting spark. has anyone had this prob. before? it happened a while ago, i let it sit overnight and it started up the next morning. i don' think its starter heat soak b/c i didn't drive it long enough to get it up to temp. by the way, its a '90 firebird with and L03

thanx

Maybe your pump is messed up or injectors are petering out. Need new plugs or ignition parts maybe?

If it turned over it isn't a heat soak problem. You need to test for fuel and verify that you have good spark before anything else. Could easily be a bad ignition component that dies when hot. Maybe you just need a tune up. Try some starting fluid next time to see if it is a fuel delivery problem.

Could be the vats. That little bump on the ignition key tells the computer that a actual key is in the ignition. If the bump gets to worn down over time. Which happens quite frequently then the computer wont read the switch and wont let the car start. All you can do is crank. The engine wont get any fuel or spark. The only fix is to go to a dealer and get another key for about 20 bucks or so. Just keep this in mind.

Don't blame it on GM. There a M*****g that comes around here and has to be towed like every1 time he shuts off his car.

haha. im glad to hear that. but i do feel his pain. i went to the mall to pick her up today, and she fired right up. i think it may be somethingwith the vats. a while back, it wouldn't even turn over. i knew the starter was good, so i wired a toggle switch in line with the battery and the starter. kinda *******, i know, but it works. thanx guys. i'll get a tune-up and a new key.
