Ok, I'm embarassed (ignition module)

1) Can anyone tell me which colour is the pos and which is the neg for the ignition module? I just replaced mine, and the old connector had pretty much disintigrated. I never paid attention to which wire's (yellow or green) polarity. Doh!

2) Should I try to make my own plastic shield around the two connectors? I don't think the power is enough to make a spark jump between the two connectors, but I thought I'd check.

3) Does the ignition coil need to be grounded? Just curious...

The yellow wire goes on the term closest to the outside of the module. The green one on the inside.

Nope, no reason to really make some kind of plug for it.

Nope, when the ignition module is mounted, it is grounded to the distributor.

Later,
Mike

Heh heh, the ignition module is like 1 of the easiest things to do!! I just can't recall all the details, hope it turns out good.

If the wires are damaged I would replace whatever they are coming from. Should be either the pick-up coil or the RF suppressor/condensor. Either would be stocked by a parts store. If they are that rough the external wires may not be the end of their problems. Nothing around the HEI module should have enough voltage to require insulation. As for the ground, put it back the way it was. I left a grounding strap out of an HEI cap a million years ago. The module fried in about 10 minutes of use. Replaced the module and found the ground strap on the floor next to where I was working. Worked for the next million years flawlessly.
