What transmissions can I put behind my 6?

700R4's are expensive as hell, lets face it... and the 1-2 drop is a joke. Since I need a new transmission anyway, are there any other ones that will bolt up behind my 6? I know about the 200C, but there must be a reason why that was done away with. Will a TH350 bolt up? Or can redrill it to bolt up? They're pretty cheap to both buy and rebuild, and they're more of a spirited tranny anyway... what do you guys think?

with the small bolt pattern you aren't left with much. if you don't want to stay with the 700R4, i'd say look for a 5 speed. when i had my 2.8 i used a 700R4 i built and used a 2800 stall converter it worked great. just changing the stall converter alone picked up .5 seconds. putting together a 3.4 with the mpi from a 91 firebird now for my s10 except with 3.23 this time (last time was 4.10).
