Removing air pump and AC on Serpintine belt
Removing air pump and AC on Serpintine belt
I've got an 88 camaro with a LO3 (TBI) 305. I'm wanting to remove the air pump and the A/C. For the record I don't have emmisions test just have to have a cat. And the A/C doesen't work, besides thats what t-tops are for.
From looking at the car intelf the air pump won't cause any problems the serpintine belt. But with out the A/C pump I won't be able to run a belt.
Does the A/C compressor seperate from the pulley or do I need to buy a new pulley?
I'm just looking to revmove some weight from the front of the car. Free up a couple of horse power. And uncluter the engine compartment.
Any help is greatly apreciated. Thanks In advance.

I kept my ac, but I've seen that most buy a delete pulley, search "delete pulley" or "homemade delete pulley" you get the drift, I'm glad I removed my smog, engine looks way better, where in IL do you live?

part # for the a/c delete pulley from gm is 10055890.
I am going to order mine this week. It is about $45. plus tax.
I posted to get the part # and this is what the guys here said would fit.
go ahead and remove the smog pump. it is just extra weight. besides it makes for more room to work on your motor.
