oil leak

i got a couple of leaks coming out of my car... the first is from the front of the engine... can oil leak out from around the timing chain cover??? the second is the front pump on my tranny... how hard is it to replace the front pump????

Yes oil can leak from around the timing chain cover. It usually leaks at the gasket though right at the bottom of the timing chain cover that mates with the oil pan. To fix this PROPERLY, you have to loosen the pan bolts, drop it down about 3/4" at the front and re-install the timing chain cover with new gaskets. Then bolt the pan back up.

The front pump on the tranny is very difficult. The tranny must be removed & i believe you need a special puller to yank that pump out.

Are you sure the tranny leak isn't the pump seal? That isn't that hard to fix, just time-consuming.

i'm not real sure... the tranny is starting to lay down anyways so I'm thinking I will just replace it...
