What to do to run into the 12's?

Ok, I'd like to make my car run nice and deep into the 12's in the 1/4 mile some-day. First thing I know I need to do is rebuild my transmission. Right now I think the car is capable of low 15's maybe high 14's??
I'd like to know what's the cheapest and quickest (no Nitrous!!) way possible into the 12 second zone on my current setup?
[edit]Quick run down on the guts of the car:
2001 GM Goodwrench 350, Performer RPM intake
Holley 600 cfm carb, Edelbrock TES Headers, Open air intake
and i believe 2.73's in the rear. original 84 T-5 as well [i believe it's stock]

Gears 3.73, track bars, and torque arm, set of Nitto's... Find a big ol' cam and port the hell out of your heads There are sooo many ways you can do it, some cheaper than others. I would do a 377/383 build up with a .520/.520 112 cam (TPIS ZZ-409 ) and get a set of good heads. You don't have to spend 2k on them, just a set of Iron Eagles if you want to keep cost down and port the heck out of them. World products makes a nice heads and if you take the money you save on them and spend its on porting you will be well of. Also don't skimp on little things like balancing, decking the bock, squaring and align etc etc if you take the motor apart. If you feel some what rich go for a blower... Like I said there are a lot of ways to get there, it just depends on prefracnes and $$$ - Good luck!

What was said above, I've got the same motor, and the cam in it is horrible. Get the Hooker cat-back also, $200 and performance is great. Sound clip is in the signature.

Ok, i guess i need to lay down a few ground rules.. I'd like to keep my 350 a 350, no boring or tearing apart the connecting rods and getting new pistons, or anything like that (it's almost a year old). OH, and emissions really isn't a problem so don't bother with mentioning that stuff

Get a set of afr heads and get a cam reccomendation from Comp cams. Then get a set of 3.73's and a posi. Performer rpm and Holley 750. Also a set of bfg dr's. That should do it.

Isnt the pisons in a Goodwrenchengine cast? If so you are in trouble, because with the cylinder pressures needed to make the hp to go that fast, ,one knock and there toast. Having said that the engine is really durable, and should make up to 425 hp, with no troubles. And I think it did! Checkout the Goodwrench Quest at www.chevyhiperformance.com

you don't need to do anything to get into the 12s except lose weight. power isn't everything. might not be able to trim all the weight you need and keep all the safety and comforts you'd like.
