Car idles eradically

When at a stop light the RPM needle will jump from 0 to 1 and the car will actaully push forward by itself when ever the needle jumps, even when brakes are applied. there is also a very noticable clicking sound, it would speed up then slow down. The car is not throwing out any codes and their are no sparks flying around in the engine bay either. Need help

Not much help but check your spark plugs. Are they fouled out?

I had a problem similiar to this and that solved 80% of my problem.

noticable clicking sound... .sounds like an A/C compressor turning on and off to me. That would have an effect on idle.

Are you sure there's no sparks flying around? Like, by the distributor cap?

Are any plugs loose, and rattling around in the holes?

Any exhaust leaks?

I second the A/C compressor theory. I had that problem taken care of (A/C delete ). The best way to test this is to turn off your A/C and see if it stops.

what about a vacuum leak? I had one of those and it idled pretty bad, but it also hesitated on acceleration, easy fix though, just a little duct tape around the leak and it was done.

I know its not the AC cause its not even hooked up, as for teh exhaust leak there is a about a 2" circular hole on the pipe from the muffler to the cat, but could this little hole cause my car to push forward on its own?, and how do i check for hose leaks

If you have a automotive stethoscope that could work easily but just listen for hissing noises coming from the hoses when the car is on. For the exhaust leak I doubt that could be it, a 2" hole is a lot though, I had a 1/4" by 1" crack in my headers before and that screwed it up a little bit but not much. When you accelerate does the car hesitate? Or maybe it's your plugs, that could easily be it. My advice is check those first, if not those then check leaks
