moroso metal-collared oil pump shaft Q's

hey guys I just got a moroso oil pump shaft to install while I have the motor out and the oil pan off. it has the metal colar on it instead of the stock plastic one. but The stock one had a bit of a "lip" in it to keep it connected to the pump. The moroso one does not it easily slides on and off. I guess the distributer and the oil pump cover keep the shaft on there? Or is there something else I should be doing? Just want to make sure so I don't grenade the motor.
Thanks,
John

No lip is required. Once it's installed, there's no way it can come off, unless the rear bearing cap comes loose from the block... in which case, the integrity of the oil pump shaft isn't going to make much difference.

Just bolt it up and enjoy the peace of mind.
