accel's manifold conversion kit
i might be asking on the wrong board here but...has anyone ever tried usin Accel's manifold conversion kit? Since buying new bases for tpti is about 350 bucks, this would make sense. All you do is put this adapter on your carbeurators intake manifold, and put a regular throttle body in it with fuel rails and some other miscellaneous things (im pretty sure it is a regular throttle body for TPI,not TBI). I wanted to know if anyone has at least heard about the performance of this kit.It would seem since it ismulti port fuel injection,it should be pretyt good.It also gives you a broader range of manifolds to use as well.

Its not that easy for what ever manifold you are going to use you have to drill for the injector bungs and get them welded on($50-$150) and figure out how to hold down the fuel rail.So you really have to pick the manifold that is right for you the first time. If you change you mind after you weld everything together It gets $$$ the injector bungs($30-$60)and more welding($50-$150) so you end up spending $400-$500 on another manifold.Im in the process of converting a RPM air gap.I made my own elbow out of a TPI plenum and a 2in carb spacer and going to use holleys fuel rail kit PN#9900-172 $180 I also found a place that sell the bungs for $30.This is the cheepest way I found.

I have installed one, on a 434 SBC. You don't use a regular carb manifold, the manifold comes with the "kit". The name of the product is Pro Ram. It also comes with its own TB, which is a 4-barrel thing, looks like a carb with no venturis. You can also get an "elbow" to use a TPI-style TB.
It works very well actually. It's a giant single-plane manifold with great flow. It's kind of "universal"; there's absolutely no bolt holes whatsoever in the manifold except for the fuel rail ones, so you have to build all your brackets and stuff, for throttle cables, coil, etc. It has plenty of places to attach things, so it's not impossible to do, but it's nowhere near a bolt-in.

Camaro-mayhem is talking about the manifold conversion kit not the full Pro-ram manifold kit.The pro-ram manifold is like 7.5in tall too tall for stock hoods. If you use the conversion kit you could use any manifold you want.

I heard on one of the vette forums that the Proram out performed the miniram. Also one of the guys that have the proram said he ran better with the elbow and TPI T-body than with the 4-barrel billet T-body.
