my a/c runs pretty good. never had a freon change, no leaks and blows cold. My only complaint is it cycles on and off too quickly i think. It cycles on......runs for abut 10 secs......then cycles off for about 4 secs....then repeats the process. Is this normal??

sounds just like mine up till yesterday when i had the system recharged it was low on refrigerant.mine was already retro to 134a so i went to walmart and for under $30 i bought the gauge and filler hose to check and charge the system it was very low.
now works great and not cycling so much.

If you set the blower to max speed and put the A/C on high the compressor should stay on all the time. If not, it's low on freon and the pressure switch is kicking the A/C clutch off until it can build more pressure...then it turns back on.
ill have to try putting my a/c on high. if it need recharging how much will it cost if i m still running R12?? i dont want to convert unless i have to.

Yeah try replacing the pressure switch first (~12-20 from AutoZone). I'm not too sure where they are on the F-body.

You're probably low on freon, when the system gets low the compressor clutch has to cycle on and off more than if you're sytem was full. you should take your car to the shop and get them to recharge your system, or you could just roll down the windows if you don't want to spend the money.

How much do they typically charge to recharge the system? Mine kicks on for about 2 seconds every SO often..... and blows hot air. Sound like the same problem? A friend told me I can buy a can with a hose that screws in and it will recharge it for 15$..... will that help?
