I want info on tire sizing, I have standard 15 aluminium wheels, and would like to know what is the widest tire, that is close to factory height so my speedo is still close.

i cant remember the stock tire size, but i think it is 215/65R15 or something like that for my 84 Trans Am. anyway, i have 15 x7 rims and i run 255/60R15 on the back and 235/60R15 on the front. my cousin runs a real good/respected tire shop and we looked it up and 255/60R15 is the widest suggested tire size for 7" wide rims. as for the front you wouldnt want to run anything bigger than 235/60R15 or i think they would rub the wheel wells
when you turn and such. the 255s are fairly wide and i think they look fairly nice out back. i run kelly chargers..they cost me 105 each for the 255s. that included installation and balancing (no discount).

Go to www.tirerack.com and go to the tire specs for a brand, and look at what they say is the diameter, # of revs/mile, recommended wheel widths, etc.

Here is the stuff for BFGoodrich Radial TA's
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...l=Radial+T%2FA

I use 235/60/R15's up front and 245/60/R15's in the rear. The speedometer isn't too far off, but it does make me feel like I'm driving slower, since the speedo says 60, and I'm actually doing 65ish (My car is too wimpy to care about the loss in overall gear ratio with the taller tire). But, the tire width and heights look better on the car than 215's do. Personally, I wouldn't even attempt any form of lower profile than stock with 15 inch wheels.
I also woulnd't try to go very wide of a tire with only 7 inch wide wheels. They would start to fit funny, and the manufacturers won't recommend it at all.

235/60/15s will read correctly on the speedo if your car came wirh 215/65/15s originally...I checked it on a tire size calculator online.
