knew he would chicken out

Here is a little tid-bit since I am bored. The other day I am cruising down Academy Blvd, the main street in Colorado Springs, when I see a MR2 weaving through traffic behind me, must have been doing 65 in the 40. I knew the light was gonna turn red at the next intersection so I keep my speed. He maneuvers so that he gets right next to me at the light. I look over at him and he wont even look back at me. I still think that since he was racing to get beside me that he wants to go. He looked like a real punk so I decide that I'm not even gonna take it easy on him, I want to completly destroy his ego. As soon as it turns green I hammer it off the line, he is no where to be seen. I look in my rearview and he is driving like some old lady all the sudden. Why would he race to catch up and then not even try? The only thing I can figure is once he got beside me and saw the IROC-Z decals on the doors he got a little intimidated, who knows.

Watch out for those turbo MR2s. Those things are quick.

A friend had one, though i'm not sure if it was turbo or not (it had 140hp if anyone knows for sure), his launched pretty good with all that weight over the rear wheels, but not much afterwards. They're better for autocrossing than drag racing. He did pull an upset victory over a moded Integra Typr R at an autocross though.

He might have just been one of those crazy drivers that like to speed thru traffic and then only get caught by a light and traffic has caught back up to him.
I think it's funny when I see someone flyin up behind me and then they're at a red light way before I am and they're stopped. I just keep my speed and then the light turns green and I pass them, happens sometimes, kind of funny I think.

he felt washed!

Were talkin a 350 here man.. he got to the light and thought...

"man.. I think that Z might have the 350 in it...
screw that.. Im a little ***** bitch and I aint takin no chance
on ruining my ***** rep!"

so as he sat there trying not too look over at the powerful
v8 muscle of death that would have left him crying like a little
girl when he was staring at the taillights and sprayed in the
windshield with the excess un burned gas spewing from the
DUAL exhaust of the Mighty MAD American Muscle mobile!

he figured....

I better just take off normal.......

hahaha

Typical rice behavior.

Did he have the upside-down/backwards visor on? How about the rave music pumping so hard the car is shaking apart?

Or maybe he was one of the IMPORT (not rice) drivers who gives respect when deserved.

Was that MR2 black? If it was, I think I've seen the guy cruising around town before. The guy is a dick if its the guy I'm thinking of.

so how was this a race if the guy didnt race you??? i dunno about where you live but when i want to race someone I let them know by either flashing the hazards, revving them out, or holding my hand out the window with the index finger up ('One Time!!'). maybe you guys do it differently but the guy probably didnt even know you wanted to race, he's probably just a habitual speeder.

Hey, that would be me! Yea, the NA 2nd gen MR2s have 130hp, 140ft-lbs, and the turbos have 200hp, 200ft-lbs. Before you say that doesnt sound like much, they weigh 2600-2800lbs, and being mid-engined, get an awesome launch.

We are much better at autocross and road racing than drag. Drag racing is not what our cars were designed for, but the turbos can hold their own. I know a guy that just dyno'd 492rwhp on his 2.2L MR2. Then he added nitrus, he's up to 515rwhp. He drag raced it, and it wasnt tuned properly at the time, and was pretty much running like crap, and got an 11.5 1/4 mile. He should be running low 10's when its running right. His goal is 9's. Pretty good for a 4-banger camry engine. (seriously, he's not even using the 3sgte(turbo engine), he's using a turbocharged 5sfe(NA crappy engine, shared with the camry).

When I autocrossed against that Integra Type-R, my clutch was slipping, and it was my first ever autocross. I also had cheap-*** skinny tires, and everything was bone-stock.

If the guy had an NA MR2, he probobly realizes his car is not designed for straight line acceleration. He'd beat the crap out of you till about 30mph, then you would waste him. Its not worth our time and effort to race you guys. Come to an autocross, or a race track, we'll show you a good view of our taillights.

so you fault the guy for thinking to himself "if it's a V6 I'll race it, otherwise I'll get spanked" so you call him a rice boy? Whoever started this had the right idea at least, but then we get the typical necks who come in and say "oh that ricemobile saw the 350 and got scared out of his ***** pants" or something stupid like that.. give me a break. A riceboy would have tried to race a 350 and gotten spanked, then done a ***** flyby 2 minutes after the other car shut it down.

To whoever keeps referring to every import on the face of the planet as "rice": Listen son.. you're not the fastest thing on the planet. Imports aren't the fastest things on the planet. Everyone's going to get beat at some point. So quit talking like you're all high and mighty and give some respect to the people who aren't complete morons with their cars. I didn't come on here calling all f-bodies pieces of crap, but as soon as I backed up the S2000 in the other thread, you jumped all over me like Bill Clinton on an intern.

So give it up, no car is the "perfect" car, this guy probably thought it was a V6, saw it wasn't, and had enough sense to not race. A V6 F-body looking for a race would have done the same thing in that situation, realizing he couldn't win the race so why bother.

"former '91 Camaro owner... NEVER AGAIN will I make the mistake of owning one."

hey, Raptor13x, what bad camaro experiance did you have to say something like that? (hey, i'm on the same tearms with ford/mazda)

and i agree with barwick.. since cruising season is now open again up 'ere in canada, (eh), i've seen a couple of "ricers" who are DAMN fast for fwd 4 bangers.. (hell, i'd probably be easily told that it was a 6 cyln, turbo under the hood and belive them!)
if you got the cash you could even make a 1.3L firefly fast..

Did you ever think it was just random Joe Schmoe who was late for work so was in a hurry, and getting into a race was the last thing on his mind?

If you are referring to my earlier post which I think you are.. then go to hell....I'm already steamed on this issue.... and I don't plan on fighting about this again.. that message above when I was saying he got scared was just in fun to get a few laughs out of people... some people are just a-holes and take it the gay way

.
