Should be fun '83 RX-7 vs. '87 T/A
Should be fun '83 RX-7 vs. '87 T/A
I know this is something of a foregone conclusion but this kid says he wants to put $200 down in it. Since he is my girlfriends ex I am down with it. He has an '83 RX-7 with a stock rebuilt and a 5 speed. This will be a drag race. My mods are in my signature. I just was wondering how bad you guys think I am gonna beat him? Also does anyone have a clue what my car might run in the quarter as is with the stock rear? Just want to hear some opinions.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I had a '83 RX-7 at one point.
You will rape him.
When I had the car I would race my friend in his '89 L03/auto Camaro RS. It was a VERY good race, but most of the time I would loose. The car was most likely a high 16 second car. There are ways to make those little Mazda 12A motors move...unless it sounds like a chainsaw at idle you are fine (lots of porting).

A stock 83 is rated at 105 hp and 100 ft/lbs and run a 16 flat with a pro driver. Used to beat my friends with my dads s-10 on a regular basis.

Yeah well, he is buying the car for a total of $2000 dollars, this is with the rebuild cost included, I know he might have some porting and an aftermarket intake and exhaust but it will be nothing fancy enough truly help him. Thats a worst case scenario for me too if is he has the three aforementioned things. I will listen to it and have him rev it for me before I race to look a little "concerned" but all in all this should be a fun A** kicking.

he he tell him to keep 2 bucks of that $200 he is going to pay you and inform him he will need to buy some lube
a first gen RX-7 stock is a 16 second car stock. the GSL-SE will do better though
they do respond very well to mods but unless he is touching the inside of the motor itself and it just the car might run 15's
though you can tell if he ha some major porting done to it
hehehe found out though.... wankel with open headers...... anything more then 2krpms is REALLY REALLY LOUD
I just wish I could have taken it up to 7 but only had the ***** to hit3k since I was in a sub division
