Iroc vs. stang
Iroc vs. stang
alirght I know a kid with a 94 gt with a 5-speed. Its all stock expect for the cobra r rims which I have no idea on size but any way. I think my iroc will win. I believe my iroc is running right. I believe these cars came with 215 hp and they weight alot. This kid said he car had 230 hp stock and only weighs 3300 lbs. He has no idea what he is talking about. or am I wrong??Will I win?? Or will the 5 speed make a differnce??

CobraKiller's sick and twisted survey says! You win by a buslength or so!..Those cars are overweight and underpowered. Have fun smoking him.

87 was not a fast year for the iroc, I have seen an automatic 94 Gt run high 14's bone stock, so I think IF the guy can drive it would be a race. The manual will make a big difference IF the guy can drive it, some people can some cannot. Good Luck, I hope you kick the mustangs ***.

What did your car run stock Cobrakiller, I would guess 15.4-5 bone stock?

The original owner of my IROC when I bought it showed me 3 time slips from when he took it to the track once when it had 18k miles on it. Best time was 14.2@98 mph only mods being K&N's and 3.42's. 15's for a well tuned 350 IROC? You're nuts. And from when I bought the car up until I started modding it I never lost to a 94 or 95 5.0 GT mustang. I was never even given a scare by one. Modded Fox bodies would kick my *** but the SN95 cars had alot more trouble.

Nope, 87 was good, there have been stock 87 IROC-Z's that have clicked off 14.20's all stock, or with really slight modification also.
Well guys, I have to say that my experience around here has been that those year cars are not fast. I would only expect to see those kinda of times from a 90-92 camaro. Maybe I am wrong, but I am just going from what I have personally seen at the track and on the street.

no way would a automatic sn95 mustang hit 14s...maybe a manual but i know my dads doesnt run 14s...previous owner SAID it ran a 15.4 or something like that i cant remember exactly. His car also has about every option from lumbar to the mach 460 sound system and the 17x8 wheels/tires. the AODE tranny really sucks i think it shifts way to soft and doesnt downshift like the 700r4 for some reason. his car has 64k on it and i dont think it will outrun mine when i get gears and posi. still havent got him to race me tho.

Usually an 87 IROC-Z in great condition will be around a 14.4, but slight modifications can get them to run a time like that pretty easy.
Well the only reference I can find at the moment is the Oct. 1999 issue of chevy high performance. They got a 305 auto, Camaro Z28, with 2.73 to baseline at 16.245 at 84.89. So the 350 auto going 2 full seconds faster in the 1/4 mile, is down right awesome. Even with the 3.42 gears it seems like it should run about a 15.2-3.
Sorry to have to get info out of a magazine, but this info is pretty consistent with what I have seen around here.
The last 87 I seen at the track was running 13.8's with a 75 shot of nos, gears, cam, runners and some other mods. Needless to say I was not impressed.
Thanks for the good converstion guys!

i think u will beat him because i've raced a 94- 95 gt (the new body but with the 5.0) auto and the owner couldn't beat my 305 tpi from a stop or on the roll. all i had was a catback and shiftkit. the last week i race another 94 -95 gt, he got the jump on me off the line but by the time he was shifting to 2nd i was passing him and he wasn't catching me either.

hmmm..
If it is all stock and crap driver..you win if your car is in good tune. With a good driver..may be close..but doubt that a stock 94-95 can do better than a high 14. BUT..my friends 90 IROC 350 only ran a 14.6@96 but spinning some. My car is HEAVY..but still manages good times...with minimal bolt ons. Another friend of mine had a modded 94GT with ALOT of mods. His best was a 14.5@97..but with different driver it ran 14.1@98..
He had 3.73's,Cobra Intake,1.7RR's,Exhaust,etc. Hell..I kill his times with 1/2 as many mods!! I like the looks..but the weight is a killer...
