96 Eclipse Turbo

This guy has a 96 Eclipse GT? (S or X The turbo one) and just blew the turbo. He is getting a new one as we speak and he's saying it has more boost than the old one. I'm not sure what but he has a few mods on his car. His best time is 14.5@95mph. He's saying I'll be a good race for him, I think I can take him. In the sig it says blad tires I just got Futura Ultra Z's (245/50/ZR16). What do you think?

if all you can get is a 14.2 out of a 6-speed LS1 car you must be driving it like sh*t no offence, you should be able to get very low 13's out of it

Look at his sig, right next to his time he says "VERY BALD TIRES" which = traction problems = 14.2 out a 6 speed LS1

Honestly you should be getting better times than that bald tires or not. But anyway if you drive the Ls1 better you should be able to take him. Remember just my opinion.

Weight of '00 Camaro: Coupe= 3,439lb Convertable= 3,574lb

The eclipse is fwd one not the AWD. I'm positive I will pull at least a mid 13 next time at the track. When I got that 14.2 my 60' was like 2.5 sec, I spun all of first and most of second.

What do you guys think of Futura Ultra Z's?

i heard this dude got his car back. yeah, its faster... his new best time is a 14.4!!! he gained a tenth! you should seriously smoke him, i dont know what he is thinking. i run a 13.4 with a trap speed of 102.5. your trap speed is in the high 103s! im predicting very low 13s if you can hook well and powershift. in short, you will pull on him HARD in every gear. that Eclipse wont know what hit him

That bigger turbo won't do him a bit of good unless he gets a bigger fuel pump and injectors, and tunes the computer accordingly. And without a bigger downpipe and other airflow improvements, its gonna take him forever to build boost. Its max airflow will be higher, but.... theres more to it than just putting "bigger this and bigger that" on a car.

You'll still take him.

exactly what he said, bolting on a bigger turbo is just part of the puzzle, you need everything else to support it
