alright heres the idea. i have decided to buy a wrecked 91 or 92 rs with a stock 305 and auto, then im gonna do the body work. so as thats done im gonna build a hot 383 and back it by a th 350 tranny. then put headers and exhast on it. but what i am thinking is instead of all crome i might just paint everything jet black. this way if someone says pop the hood then it looks all stock for the most part and i can swear up and down its a stock 305 with headers, a cam, and exhast does this sound like a good idea? im sure an idiot ***** will look at it and think its all black and theres not even any crome and on top of it all its only a rs, not even a z28 and will be ALOT more willing to race for $ and then u lay the smack down hehe man im evil minded.

Don't make it look too good, and don't race too often or they will catch on. I was thinking of doing the exact same thing...with one of those old 2.8's and dropping in a 350 to save on insurance...as I am a young driver.

 

NAW do what i am doing, getting 400 block, using 350 Crank =377 torque monster(W/TPI), and to finish it off, I am putting a 80's "2.8 FUEL INJECTION" Bumper cover on the back, as the original one is torn anyway. THATS Sneaky.

 

When/IF I do a motor swap... its still gonna look just like the one in there now. I swear, all its got is an aftermarket intake and headers see look its still even got the TBI

 

That's kind of like my friend who cut one of his tailpipes off his muffler on his 86 Z so everyone would think it was a 6. He even repainted it a different color. The worst part is is that now he claims he wants to sell it for a civic! I'm still trying to convince him not to. Although i could use some of his parts

Go for it. You won't be the first one to build a sleeper. There are plenty of tricks to hide your nice parts. Most people will believe you when you say it's a 305 and will pass you off for an easy kill. Keep it looking close to stock and don't race too often, and you can make a killing. Race too often and start making a name for yourself, and you'll end up in one of two situations. 1. Noone will race you, or they will refuse to race for money or 2. You'll get the REALLY fast cars out looking for you.

 

That sounds like the stupidest idea for a 15 year old. Maybe you should get your license first than learn how to work on a car cuz you might be able to swap fenders and a hood or something basic but you won't be able to anything big. Plus if you're trying to save money than you're gonna buy a really wrecked one with a bent frame and all and if you think you're gonna build the 383 and race it like that it's gonna blow right away since you've never built one before. If all you're concerned about is "Ricers" than all you need is a stock LG4 to beat "some ***** that drives a mad phat civic that runs 19s with a bunch of nawwsss stickers" So before you come talking **** why don't you learn about cars. Why are people so concerned about this sleeper thing? IF you race someone for money and they find out you lied about your motor then your all done. Plus why lie? Isn't it cooler to say yeah I swapped out the 305 for a 350? Because if anyone believes that you kept the 305 then they will just think you are retarded anyways.

Hey I respect any car that can beat me no matter what they have done because after all they are faster than me. Also I understand why you might of gone off if he said something personal against you but you don't need to continue the slug fest. If he wants to make his car a sleeper then he should go right ahead. I mean look at the police RS. Those have 350s in them with RS badging are you saying you wouldn't respect one of those? Let's just try to keep the peace If you disagree with the idea or with the person there are other ways to show this while at the same time making yourself look presentable.

Do it Lank! Suggestion though, on the exaust try and get something that isn't real loud until you wail on the throttle and also run one of the duals about half way and have it dump off under the car and then the other runn all the way out.

Hot 86z28 you are right...in my few years of riding i've ridden with real "outlaws" (1%ers), cops, independents, Special Forces guys (those are the crazy ones that don't give a crap about anything) and everything inbetween. you can thump your chest on a message board, but who is really listening??? nobody.......
The good thing about this board is that someone like him can not get the response he wants from his flames, and in a week or two he will move on.
