My run in with a mid 90's integra

First, I drive an 88 with the 305 TBI and automatic tranny. The integra is a 94 and manual, not sure of the engine. I was alone and he had a passenger. I was headed home from my girlfriends house a few days ago and I saw a kid I know from school. He just got this car for a graduation present like 1 month ago and of course has the fart sounding exhuast and body kit and about 200 pounds of stereo equipment. He always talks trash about his car and since it is manual he thinks it is the fastest thing around. I was waiting to get on the road and saw him coming so I waited to let him in front of me. It was about 11:30 at night so no one else was on the road. It was about to go from a 35 MPH limit to 55. I decided to have some fun with him so I got on the gas a little early. I had no idea if I could beat him or not. I had my windows down and when I got next to him I heard his exhaust get alot louder from him going WOT. Now, I know I got the jump on him, but I went WOT and didn't let off until I hit around 110 MPH. It took him about 4 car lengths to match my speed but he never got closer. It was pretty even, but I pulled on him just barely. I thought he would catch me but he never did. I shifted into overdrive at 110 and let it coast and of course he kept on it and passed me. Whats the deal? Are these cars not really that fast or is he a bad driver and should have caught and passed me? Now I heard from a mutual friend that this kid is saying he beat me cause he didnt see brake lights, guess I shoud have flashed the hazards at him But I know how it really happened. Anyway, I'm just happy I got a kill.

Yea ricers can be like that. They think they are winning because you finally let up to be safe after pulling way ahead of them. With them its like not only a acceleration test but sort of an endurance test as well Whoever shuts down first loses. Dumb mentality because they lost and are poor sports.

Do you know what model Integra it was? The power could have ranged from 142hp to 170hp depending on the model (195hp with a J-Spec Type R engine but I doubt that). It was most likely a RS/LS with the 142hp / 127tq DOHC non V-Tec B18B1 motor in witch case the car will be very very slow hahahhaha.

What CrazyHawaiian said. If it was a GS-R or Type-R, he would most likely have spanked you.

I dont think Integras are that fast. I stomped several Integras when I used to drive a 86' Pontiac Fiero SE. It had a 2.8L V6 and a 4 speed manual.

Alright, but just remember that a 96+ Integra GSR with boltons pumps out 220 hp and runs mid to low 14's ... that will will hang with (or maybe even beat!) any of the stock 305 tbi guys on this board. Not bad for a N/A 4cyl if you ask me.
