what would it take for a 88-90 notch 5.0 5 speed to outrun a 5 speed 2002 GT? Im really considering getting a mustang. i really like my dads and the camaro has seen better days plus i can get parts CHEAP. had a chance to buy a 9psi paxton with 300miles on it for 900$ awhile back. anyways what would it take?

3:73s, full exhaust and maybe a better intake.

With a stick in the coupe all you need is, geras, 3.73 or 4.10, remove the silencer, exhaust, headers, H-pipe, Cat-back, and maybe tires if you can't drive. Other than that you would take him.

damn thats all? i figured it would take more. If i get one i plan on getting equal length BBK headers, X-pipe, flowmaster 2 chamber catback and 3.73s for sure after that im not sure yet. if i can find one with relatively few miles i may get a nitrous kit for it and run a 75 shot.

take my advice..get a magnaflow catback for it. It's stainless steel, relatively inexpensive and it flows much better than a flowmaster catback. But my friend used to embarass new GT's in his 91 notch..he had 5.0 5 speed with short throw shifter,3.55's,Mac headers, mac off road h-pipe,flowmaster catback,E-303 cam,and a couple small suspension upgrades. I would watch him walk on those cars all day long. Even some that had full exhaust and gears. 5.0 LX=good car.

I agree with that...we did the same thing to my buds 89 LX notch. BBK equal length headers, Pacesetter off road H pipe, Flowmaster cat back, 3.55s, K & N filter with silencer removed, pullies, short belt to bypass PS and AC (track only), advanced timing, and a Pro 5.0 shifter. That's it. It ran 13.80s all day on street tires.
