riced turbo Eclipse punks out

a friend of mine at work told me about this guy that was at the local import hangout, who claimed his car couldnt be beaten. its the newest style turbo Eclipse (98' & under), front wheel drive, auto, with some minor intake and exhaust improvements and, of course, the mandatory ***** bolt on : a blow-off valve (they all love to make that thing work, dont they?) anyway, ive heard of this kid before, my brother went to school with him and challenged him to a race when his 91' Vette was bone stock. he repeatedly refused. so now, hes found a part of town where the 16 second cars are considered fast, and he thinks of himself as a g0d. so, to make a long story short... i saw him at a Wawa parking lot last night and decided to embarass him in front of his friends. i slowly drove past him and gunned it real quick, smoking the tires. i parked on the other side of the building and my girl and i went inside. before i got in, mister hotshot drove by my car and flicked me off, then made a hasty retreat out of the parking lot and onto the highway. so my question is this.... should i bother to hunt this guy down when the outcome is probably that he wont race me? or should i not even bother and just let him keep talking trash. im really getting sick of all the yo-boy import drivers claiming to have NASCAR like Hondas, and then chickening out when i challenge them to a race. even the turbo ones suddenly blurt out all kinds of excuses when the Vette enters a parking lot like they JUST noticed a slow leak in one of their tires, or a sticker fell off so they arent putting out as much FWHP (what does that mean anyway... Foolish Wiggers Hasty Purchase?... *** Went Home Pissed?... Farts When Hits Pedal?) anyway, i guess im just POed... so what do you guys think the outcome of the race will be and do you think i should even persue it?

I say don't bother...
.... You never know with these people.
.... Most properly he will chicken out.
But what happens when he does race and you whip on him real bad?
Will you find your tires slashed or someone with a key decided to do the best Michelangelo impression on your hood?
Sounds like a kid that is 19 going on 14...

This deserves a thoughtful answer...

Yes, you should race him, but don't let him push you into anything crazy. I don't see him as the type tho. He's a coward.
If he does do something to your car, that's a bad move. Personally, here's me in the situation: I get the impression he's going to damage my car after I smoked him. I park it in a very vulnerable place as soon as possible. This gives him easy access, so he doesn't have to do something smart and have the chance of getting away unseen. While it is parked there, several of my friends will be watching from a distance. When he tries something, he will be caught red-handed. There are two possible ends here:
1) I, personally would beat the hell out him, then tear his clown car to pieces with my bear hands- right in front of him. Some newer cars are rather flimsy.
2)Call the cops and prosecute.
Sorry, I'm not a violent or angry person, but my cars have been tampered with and it makes me mad.

I'd like to say something. I love F-Bodys like everyone else here. But dammit guys. Not every import is a rice machine or "Clown Car". I just ran 13.1 the other night in my 1997 Turbo Eclipse "Clown Car". No, it's not even close to stock. By the way, "if its only FWD i wouldn't bother with him...". That is the biggest load of $hit I have ever heard. I'm sure that all the Mustangs I smoke think the same thing. Get your $hit straight. And a BOV being a rice mod... The ignorance is amazing. By the way, the newer style Eclipse is 1999 and down. And if you want to get real technical, 95-96 are different from 97-99. And the newest is 00-01 with a slight change in 02-. I'm not trying to start a semantics argument, but if you're going to talk $hit... at least know what you're talking about. Like I said I love F-bodys, but I'm tired of this American cars= Cool, Japanese cars= $hit attitude. It's simply not true. A fast car is a fast car. If you want to see what I'm talking about go to www.dsmtalk.com and check out some of their times. Not too bad for clown cars.

What have you done to the tranny. I know that my fiend had a hell of a time shifting his '92 TSI. He could only run 14.2s because of it. I drove his car and a '97GSX that both had hard shifting problems. Oh, I assume you have a 5-spd.

THE EQUATION:
THE MONEY YOU PUT INTO YOUR DSM+INVESTED INTO AN FBODY=FASTER THAN 13.1.

Imports are cool if you want to spend a lot of money to make a car fast, nobody said they werent fast.

Thats BS if you ask me. so what is easer to mod to get it really fast?
Supra TT
RX7
or a 3rd Gen????
imports can be cool and fast at the same time
it's the F&TF crowd that gives "Ricers" a bad name and
rightfully so too.

its the crowd of Civic LXs with attitudes and stickers and high rise wings that pisses off the rest of us.

I beleive that if you put the same amount of money into a TT Supra, TT300ZX, etc. as you would a Third Gen, the Supra, etc would be faster. Now total cost of the cars thats different,in that case the Third Gen would be faster.

i would agree to a certain point until u start on serious mods, i've seen turbo kits for Supra's go for $5K WITHOUT the intercooler, **** that's a whole new engine for a thirdgen lol

I haven't had any problems with the tranny, the stock clutch on the other hand was gone in about a week when I put the bigger turbo on(Big 16G). DSMs are famous for bad trannys though. I'm sure something will happen to it.
