Viper GTS vs. 5.0

My buddies were all riding their bikes to another town the other night just to go cruising and I was a little down because I traded my bike for the 89 Iroc I have now and didn't have anything to ride. My girl says I'll call dad, and we'll get the Viper and follow everyone up. I'm like COOOL!!! So he has no problem at all with us taking the car!
So anyway we are on the way home in a nearby town, and this fox body gt pulls up on the passenger side and says nice car. We say thanks and pull over to chat. He tells me he has Gt40 upper and lower, H pipe, no cats, flowmasters, ram air and a cam. He asked if I wanted to run even though he knew he would lose. So why not?! We roll outside of town and there is about ten of his buddies following us to watch. We do a roll on at about 20. I left the car in 2nd, slid the cluth a little and with a slight tire spin promptly checked out! Wow this car hauls ***!! We ran once more, same result. I let out of it at about 90 both times and was way too many lengths ahead of him to count! He was very cool about it though and thanked me for the fun! On the way home we did a roll from 70 with some of the bikes and not a one could pull me. GSXR 1000 included. Man I hate to admit a Dodge is this bad, but this thing flies! Bone stock except cold air and exhaust. Just made me want to get my car going so bad. He said we could borrow it anytime too I will own one of these cars one day!

Yeah, that's the only scrap of dignity Dodge has left to hang on to. Such a good car company went to such crap during the 80s. It's going to take a long time to live down the K-car.

It's like that Dodge comercial where the kid rolls up in the Caravan to pick up his prom date and the dad gives him the Viper.

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's kinda funny you brought up that commercial, because all my buddies were talking about it when we pulled up in the car. I also own a 67 VW camper bus, and they said I must have picked her up in the van!! We have borrowed the car 3 times and I don't want to abuse the priveledge, so we hold out as long as we can. Hope he lets us take it to the car show and cruise next month!

WOW! I wish my g/f's dad was that generous. Or for that matter, anyone. I've seen a viper in action and man do they sound/look sweet. Imagine putting flowmasters on a V10
If I can't ever get a viper I hope to at least have a car as fast as that. You sir are one lucky man.

The car would make it worth it even if she was a 500 pound pig, which I am pretty sure she is not, right. Just joking man, dont get pissed, that is one sweet car. Wish I had the chance to line up with one even if I would get wasted.

Hate to burst your bubble here but a stock Viper would get walked on by a GSXR 1000 even with the fattest, crappest rider on earth.

Sorry to be so blunt, but it's true.

Hate to bust your bubble, but I know how fast bikes are, including the GSXR 1000. My brother has a 01 GSXR 750 which is only about 2 tenths slower than the 1000. I ride it all the time, I've ridden a 1000 once, and I just traded off my TL1000r. Have you ever driven a Viper GTS, or ridden a GSXR 1000? Just because Motor Trend says the Viper runs 11.90's, and Cycle world says the GSXR 1000 runs 10.00 through the quarter, doesn't mean that a roll on at 70 will have the same outcome. A bike makes 90% of it's E.T. out of the hole, not on the big end. I am not an idiot, from a stand still, the bike would KILL the car. Also, my TL whooped many a bike that was supposed to be faster than it was. Unlike a car, a bike is only as fast as it's rider! The guy on the GSXR1000 never would race me. My buddy has an r6, and I've seen him beat everyone he has ever raced, including a Busa! It is very, very rare to see anyone pull of times that are within a 3/4 of a second of the advertised times on a bike. I watched a guy on a 1000 run low 13's all day! I'm not trying to be rude either man, before I drove the Viper on the highway, I wouldn't have beleived it would pull like a bike either. But the fact is it does!
Oh, and by the way, LOL at the 500lb. comment! Tell me how to post a pic and I'll try to get a pic of her with the car posted. I've got a pic of her with her old Prowler, she hated that car! She is as much as a gearhead as myself, so she thought it was weak!

I've never driven a C5, but I sure want to. I don't care if the Viper is faster, I'd take a Z06 over it in a heartbeat.(no pun intended) My GF also had a 2000 C5 convertable,(she used to be married to a doctor) She said it drove soooo much better than the Viper. Maybe we'll take the Viper up to the Chevy dealer and pretend that were trading it in on a Zo6 so I can get to drive one!!!!

I'm havng a hard time believing that a GSXR1000 couldnt pull you on the freeway. It must be a newer Viper with the T56. What gear did you downshift to @ 70mph? Must have jumped right into the powerband (well I guess the powerband is huge on that thing so its not that hard). Aside from that, 1/4 mile times mean nothing here. You're talking freeway racing. But hey who knows, the Viper has some mods ... maybe its possible ... but I'll believe it when i see it.

Of course when I saw Walserrz Supra walk GSXR1000's and Busa's on his website I was blown away. So I know its not impossible. I think he had a little more power on the top end than that Viper though ...

Nice Kills!!

Vipers are so much fun, wish I had one :lala: Got a couple of rides around the racetrack though, 90's something coupe and one of the older roadsters.. 2 different classes and damn what a difference between stock and prepared lol. 140 mph on the straights with the prepared coupe and grip that wouldn't quit. Stocker was a more forgiving ride since you're sliding around basicly hehe.

Well, if there's one thing I guy wouldn't want another guy touching more than his car, is his daughter. So, I guess a car isn't that much of a big deal.

LMAO YOU ARE SO FUNNY KID!

First of all:

Second:
Let me just tell you this! I own a bike also its a Ninja ZX11. And Ive raced the 02 viper. let me just put it this way those bikes u thought u were racing they must of been in 6th gear cruising. I raced some guy in his new viper GTS and he really wanted to go from a roll he said he was fast and all but i really didnt care. SO light went green by the time i hit 3rd i left him by good 20-30 cars behind. then we tried from a 40 roll by the time i hit 150 would be the same result. So dont be B.S.ing me that a viper can pull on a GSXR1000 the driver matters a lot also. I can barely pull on a GSXR1000 myself its not easy those bikes stock run mid-high 9's . So does my bike now. Anyhow i think that uve never been in a viper yourself those things arent that fast.
If you want to prove me wrong bring your slow *** viper to FL and ill show you what *** whoopin' means.

First of all, I'm not a kid. I'm 27 years old. Second of all I never said the guy on the 1000 didn't downshift, did I. And thirdly, I can tell from your post you are young and have never drove a Viper, or rode a 1000. Anyone who knows anything about bikes knows the ZX11 is your grandpa's bike anyway. And no I'm not going to come to Florida in the VIper to see you probably ride a 600 Katana!:lala: Don' worry dude you think your jealous now, wait till I get a pic of my girl up!
And to everyone else her sister is already married! Sorry.

The only reason I would have a Viper would be to sale it to one of you guys. Vipers are fast-very fast, but for the amount of money, they don't last long. Saw a magazine once where they threw a rod in a test model.

I've also heard that the back two cylinders like to burn up from poor fuel pressure distribution in the rail. My Viper GMPP ZZ502/502 $7000 vs. $70,000 for a real viper off the show room floor. hhhmmmm whatever shall I pick?

I will second the motion that a Viper would pull on a GSXR1000 if he was crusing along and didnt downshift. If he down shifted and got the revs up then it would be close, the GSXR would probably win, but not by "20-30 car lengths" like the other guy said. Bikes make all there power out of the hole, top end on them is not all that great. Off the line it wouldnt be close, from 70 it would be a close race. The ninja guy was talking about from a dead stop to 150mph, which i doubt his ninja would even do to begin with. Thats a complety different race then 70-90 is.

YOU GUYS DONT HAVE A CLUE OF WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT AND NO IM NOT A KID AND I DONT DRIVE A PIECE OF CRAP KATANA. 2ND I DRIVE A MODED ZX11. THE CLOSESTS IVE HIT AT THE TRACK WAS 1/4 @ 9.6 AT 152MPH. NOW DONT TELL ME THAT A VIPER CAN PULL ON A MOTORCYCLE THATS IMPOSSIBLE. I GUESS U GUYYS HAVE NEVER BEEN ON A FAST BIKE.EVEN A 750CC BIKE WILL GIVE THE VIPER A FIGHT. BTW BIKES ARE MEANT FOR TOP END IVE HIT A LITTLE OVER 200. MOST NEW BIEKS 750'S AND UP RUN 10'S ON THE 1/4 STOCK. AND WITH THE RIGHT SPROCKET AND GEARING YOU CAN MAKE ANY BIKE TO HAVE PLENTY OF TOP END. SO GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!
BTW NEXT TIME IM GONA TRY TO GET THE RACE ON TAPE SO I CAN PROVE YOU THAT A STOCK VIPER DOESNT STAND A CHANCE VS A 900CC + BIKE.

Indeed. The Walser supra runs consistant 9's with the best so far of 9.81@154 w/1.7 60ft on n.o.s leaving easy. On motor only, 10.10@147. I believe he is running around 830rwhp. Which is what is required to take out the likes of busas from a roll....as the videos proved.

I dont think its possible mainly because of the hp/weight ratio. Nothing you can buy from a dealer can beat a Bike in the hp/weight ratio department. And I dont agree that Bikes have all their power off the line and no top end. They have really high redlines (10k+) and push alot of power @ the higher revs. Have you guys ever seen a dyno sheet of a GSXR1000? The numbers are not as high as our cars but when you take into consideration they weigh 155 +/- pounds, those things are beasts!! I also think Bikes are the kings of street racing because they can maneuver way better than a car ever could. If the guy was trying your Viper would have been toast.

But hey like I said show me a video of it happening and I'll believe it.

Yeah im gonna agree that a bike will eat a viper off the line anyday..unless the viper is moded. But i could see a viper hanging with some bikes from a roll like he is talkin about. For one yes the bike is light and has a great HP/wieght ratio...but with it being so light i would think the wind would cause a factor. And if i remember his post correctly i never saw that he said he beat these bikes bad or anything...i think he said they could not pull against him..big diff from beating a bike badly and sayin that the bike could not pull against him....as for junior yelling in his post...dude grow up or if ya keep that attitude someday someone is gonna stick an iron bar in your wheels as you go by just to see how many cartwheels you and your bike can do..later

Hennessey is a crook and a loser. There are more respected people out there who will build you a motor better that what hennessey can pretend to sell you.
