race my dad?

my dad has wanted to race me since i got my car a year ago
and he is serious

he has a 97 gmc one ton four door long box pickup with a topper so it has weight over the rear

sounds like a pathetic race huh

but not with teh motor he has, its all stock, but its a :hail: 454 vortec, mad power

i know that anything over 60 and id get him but that thing takes off hard from the line and doesnt spin very easily

They still had the 454 in 97?
The ones in the 454SS in the mid 90s only had around what, 220HP? (Lots 'o torque though) But imagine how much your dad's truck weighs!
It probably runs like 19.0 in the 1/4

my dad has a 90 454ss all stock, and i have an 88 formula with a 355 5spd, slp airfoil, bw 9 bolt with 2.77'( they suck but the 3.45's were toast!) , hypertech stage II thermomaster, dynomax exhaust, so i really dont have any REAL mods done do it. the motor has 22k miles on it and it has the 92 z28 cam in it. anyways, to make a long story short. my dad thinks big motor big power! i hand him his azz on a regular basis. that truck is a dog!! its almost as pathetic as the 360 dakota's!!! i kill my frinds dakota on a regular basis as well.

I say you race him for his engine. Then when you beat him you swap it into your car

Good thing he's not driving a power stroke

http://my.ais.net/~hypermax/maxchip.html

Better bring something bigger to this table.

This is for ChillPhatCat saying there is an option for a 502 in the new suburbans. The engine you are reffering to is the 8.1 vortec which is actually a 496 cubic inch engine. It makes 340hp and 455lb of torque. It is an option for all the 3/4 ton trucks, 1ton trucks and suburbans. Talk about a powerhouse.

We have a chevy 94? 1 ton truck where I work. It has a 454 + 4 speed auto. It has a dump box on it and it's 4WD. It wieghs in at exactly 8060lbs with no driver (rock quary scales). It is a BEAST. I think it has lots of go for being that heavy. But, it gets 9 mpg. The coolest thing about it is it has just as much power pushing a 10 foot plow through a foot of snow with 6200 pounds of salt in the box as it does cruising empty. Rides like a caddy with 3 ton of salt in the back . You will spank him.
