Damn I lost to a Z28
Well I took the car out today for the first time with the new motor, goodwrench 350, and i lost with it
. I have 2.5inc pipes with no cat and a prety restrictive muffler and i think the car has a miss but i dont know i cant hear it relly well cuz the car is prety quiet. But any way I pulled up to a light and this Z28 pulls besied me and wants to race he said he had a 305 TPI now im not sure but i thought the Z28 came with 350 in them o yeah it was a 1990, any ways so i race him and he pulls on me a little bit and when we shut down he was half a car in frunt of me. I was wonderin how you guys think i did he said he was complety stock.

plenty of z's had 305's but i think he was pulling your leg on his engine size. i would think a 305 tpi with no mods to be mid (at best ) to high 15's. i would think you should be able to beat that

Actually I think the 1990 305 TPI with the G92 option was probably in the low 15's and maybe even a high, high 14. But he might have been B.S.'in yea though. Whatever don't worry about it, besides aren't you supposed to break those engine's in, That means no racing for at least 2000 miles:nono:
But hey your money you car free world, But next time smoke him, because it's just too hard to turn down a race with the new motor, "Do as I say, Not as I Do."

Well those goodwrench engines have a ****ty *** cam for one. A well tuned goodwrench engine dropped into a completely stock third gen is only gonna run 15s. Sucks, I know. I've seen it a few times and felt sort of bad for the guy behind the wheel. Put a real cam in there(****, even a stock L98 cam is better), and you'll beat him.

Your goodrench 350 is only ...what...250hp and thats because of the weak cam. I've heard a nice cam will wake that thing right up.
Oh, and if he was a 305 with a 5 speed, then thats why you lost. That was an amazing combination. Put a nice cam in there and it should be a different story, depending on your gears.

Ummm, there were no Z28s in '90. Only IROCs. Like said a G92 305 5spd could hit mid 14s.
And that Goodwrench motor, with headers, stock cat-back and 2:73s I ran a 15.41 with a slipping tranny.
Just installed a new cam.
The stock cam is 390/410 lift.
