4th gens are fast

i race every week in at Gateway in St. Louis and my friend sometimes goes. He use to have a 5 speed Saturn SL2 (haha) but he sold it and got a 1994 Formula Firebird automatic. I raced him in the first round of time trials. It was sad how much he killed me by. His car is completly stock and ran 14.2 to my 16.7. I think i'm going to by a 4th gen.

I imagine that's a lot of work, but I was reading somewhere the other day that someone had tossed an LS1 into a 3rd Gen Camaro. No times on it though. A 4th Gen LS1 will usually average between 13.6 and 13.2 depending on year and given a decent (but not perfect) driver, track, etc... It'd be an interesting swap for sure.

Or drop in a ZZ4 with some 3:73s, full exhaust and walk all over him.

Mark has the right idea. It's much easier to do a motor swap on a third gen car then a fourth gen. Put in a bigger engine and kick that fourth gens @$$ for a fraction of the cost.

1991 Z28 w/ an LS1, it's in the 11's with a cam, stall convertor, and a few minor mods. Plenty of room for improvement, pretty damn sweet if you ask me. I want to put an LS1 into my 91 RS. 4th gen power with 3rd gen handling, that would be so sweet, not too economical, but awesome none the less.
