99+ Cobra vs The LS1
Tonight after work I was crusing around maybe hoping to find some kind of race.
But I ended up finding really nothing at all so I decided it was time to head home. I start heading towards the highway and pull up to a light. I'm sitting there and look in the rearview when i see and hear what appears to be a SN95 mustang coming up alongside me. And sure enough he pulls up beside me with the snake badge on the side and cobra style wheels. He had a pretty healthy exhaust note and he let me know it by revving at me. I just smiled and asked him what he had. He said gears, full exhaust, and D/R's. He asked me the same and I said "muffler and lid". He smiled and probably thought this was going to be an easy kill for him. Well it wasn't all that easy. He the revved his car up preparing to launch I took of the TCS and got ready myself. Light turns green and he took me out of the hole by a little over a car length. He managed to hold that lead until about 40 mph when I started to pull even. Then not too long after this all he saw was tailights. And then tailights fading.
At this point I had gotten onto the highway and he decided he was going to follow. I guess he figured he wanted a crack at it on the top end. Sure enough I get up to speed and he gets up to speed right beside me. He drops the hammer and pulls on me. I then got into it and just pulled right on past him and kept pulling up to about 115. Mark another one up for the LS1
Later on down the road I had an LT1 firebird beside me,and the guy was looking over at me, but I wasn't interested in that. I was too close to my exit and had my excitement for the night.

Nice kill, still trying to figure out why a Cobra with gears would try to play with an LS1 on top end.

Nice kill!!
Cobras are always so much more fun to kill than any other car. They all have a grudge against LS1's.
Oh yeah,
Good luck dynoing 310 with an auto. Most autos dyno 280-290 with your mods.
Six speed cars are dyno queens...just not dragstip winners

I wasn't saying I was going to dyno at that. I was just talking about LS1 cars in general. I'd be happy to break 290-300. The 6 speeds definitly are dyno queens. Seeing them dyno at almost 320HP is ridiculous.
Firehawks are very nice cars...
But keep in mind that the only real hp making differences between a firehawk and a Z28/TransAm are the exhaust (SLP dual/dual) and airbox.
They do have VERY nice wheels, better suspension, and a D@MN nice hood
If there is a 4th gen out there to have, it is one of these.
But there is no doubt that th 345hp rating is a number picked out of thin air by GM.

I went to a dyno session with my dad a few years ago, and there was a nearly new Firehawk in the lot. Turns out it had already gone, and it put down 333 at the wheels, and they also said it was bone stock. Supposedly the same car went 12.9x at the track without any mods! I never saw either the dyno or the track run, but everyone there would vouch for it!!!
Still Firehawk=:hail: :hail: :hail:
