L98 Vette's vs L98 Camaro's

The Vettes are usuall about a half second quicker mod for mod. Once the mods become more and more, the Vettes seem to respond better also! I say go for the Vette, but you are on an Fbody site, so see what everyone else thinks!

The Vettes got a little more hp and they are lighter. As far as I know that's about all they got. Mod for mod, like said, the Vette is still probably going to be just a few tenths quicker at the most.

They are also more aerodynamic. They handle a bit better too, also 89 and up came with the ZF6 instead of a T-5.

100% bone stock my 89' Corvette auto went 13.90 at 99.80 mph with a 2.04 60ft (i dug up all my old timeslips from when i first bought the car).

heres what i did to improve performance with timeslip results:
- flowmaster cat back : 13.88 at 99.84 w 2.10 60ft
- cut air lid & K&N : 13.69 at 100.85 w 1.98 60ft
- free mods, airfoil, AFPR : 13.44 at 102.51 w 1.94 60ft
- front ypipe, DRs : 13.20 at 104.22 w 1.89 60ft

the major differences between Vettes and B2L Camaros are the aluminum cylinder heads, better air intake and exhaust, wider tires, and of course, lighter weight. these things give the L98 Vette a performance advantage over a 350 Z

thats some good times for just the standard mods
you don't have headers?
you think you'll be in the 12s with headers?
damm maybe I should have bought a vette.... (thought about it) but that would have been about another $4K for a good one.
later
biker
maybe I'll get a LT1 in a few years.....

nah, not yet. major PITA to do headers on a C4. the stock exhaust manifolds will suffice for now. i do, however, have a torque converter ready to go in this weekend. hopefully ill get it done in time for the last day at the track this year. ill definately be seeing 12s going from the anemic factory 1300 stall converter to the 2500 unit i have going in. a few guys have this exact peice on corvetteforum.com and get mid 1.7 60fts with it. i should see 2-3 tenths from that mod alone
BTW are you going to the third gen nats?
not sure. my 3rd gen isnt in any way special like the ones you guys all have. its just my daily driver. maybe if theres a track nearby, and ill just park the Vette away from the fbodys... hmmm

Vettes have a better exhaust too.

Get the IROC! They look better and are cheaper to maintain and insure and T-tops are cooler than a targa top! Either way it doesn't take much for either of those cars to get fast, but I beat out an 86 Vette from a 30 MPH punch to 100 by about half a car but his was an auto.

the 700R4s suck when it comes to downshifting. very rarely will it go into the correct gear, and when it does, it takes a second or 2 to shift there. if your race had been from a stop, the outcome would have been different
