moms grand prix beats an older maxima

hey guys i went up to work today just to get things straightened out about my car, and how it will be handled, and as im driving home, i see some "thug" with not the newest, but the model before the newest maxima, and it has all the big *** badging, fart can, probably an intake, and 18 inch rims, fart by as im mergin onto the highway, so i decide to catch up and have fun with it, so i get on it, ands catch up pretty quickly (the grand-prix 2000, 3100 series all stock) so im up next to him, and hes blasting his jigger crap, of course the system of his sounds like its about to blow all the speakers, we make eye contact, hes in the fast lane so got caught behind a truck, got right behind him, and he decides to f-cking brake check me for no reason at all, this got me mad so after i passed the truck i got back in the other lane, as soon as i do this he floors it, i do the same, low and behold my moms car spanked him from 45 to 65 so io got right infront of his *** and did the same BS he did to me, he flashes his beams on, and i get back in the other lane, he gets up next to me, and i give him the bird, he just laughs, and he floors it again, i do the same, he didnt look all that smiley when my moms good ol GP still pulls harder then his moded 3.0 6cyl , so after that, i gave him the thumbs down, and get off at my usual exit....dont know if this is even a kill, but i was impressed to know that my moms car bone stock, killed a minorly moded maxima probably of the same year teehee PONTIAC POWER ALL THE WAY BABY and on that note, i looked at her exaust and its 2-1/4 inch all the way up to the manifolds, thats pretty big for a 6 cyl isnt it? :hail: :lala:

Car: 91 firebird now
Engine: 305
Transmission: 5 speed
I know the feeling the 3.5L dodge intrepid 94-95 prototype that I drive most of the time can spank some of those little cars pretty good.

My second car, other then the iroc, is a 97 grand prix se(with the gt engine, 3.8 L).
They are fast, however you are not going to get very far modifying it. Especially modifying the 3.1 L. I bought the Camaro solely from the aspect that I can make it faster cheaper.

Oh and you do not want to do these things:

im thinkin ill go with a highflow cat, and catback for her car, and me and my friend will make a custom cool air intake for it too, maybe that will help teehee for the GP that is
highflow cat- Emission compliance violation, your car must be at least 5 years old and 50000 miles, or the cat must be damaged to be replaced.

custom intake- Depends on if the warrenty is still existant. Will void warrenty.

The gt variant has 205 hp and 240 torque(depending on year). My Grand Prix is modded to about 240x260. The gtp version has
240x280.

Isn't the rating 200 hp and 230 lbs.ft. torque for the L36 in the GT? Anyway, what mods do you have done to it for 240 hp? Just curious. I know there's alot out there for the L36, thanks to the popularity of L67 in the GTP.

graywolf624: What do you run in the 1/4 with the GT. My friend has a GT that runs 14.41@ 96.xxx, he is currently the second fastest in the nation. His is a '97 so it has the worse of the two transmission. He took his cat completly off, he runs a borla cat-back. The GP are nice to drive, but nothing compared to the fun of RWD

It depends on the year. It ranges between 225 lbs ft in the worst year of this gen (97 +) to 240 for the best. The recent year ironically is not the best. I can't wait to see what they do next year. Bob Lutz called the competition packaged on the next gen grand prix the best handling car he has ever driven.

I think you missed that I have a se with a gt engine. Also, he is hardly the second in the nation. I would imagine you are referring to Joel Sorensen 1997 Black 2 door GT 14.413@96.43. He is indeed second on the list of the Grand prix club, but there are faster l36's out there that they don’t cover (I knew another guy with an se from my home town that ran a low to mid 14 depending on conditions, who is not even on that list). The top one is closer to the max however: Matt M 1997 Black 2 door GT 12.384@112.96.

My personal car runs a 14.8 something (it has only been run once). A previous owner for the purpose of auto cross and track racing did the mods. The car handles far better then it speeds (well use too, before my tires died and I had to replace a few old suspension parts). I do not know all the mods, but I am aware of: tranny cooler, aluminum heat shield, better shocks, struts, sway bars, spark plugs, wires, cold air box, (when it was rated it had a k&n, some fool at a service station threw it away when I wasn't looking ), better thermostat, weigh stripping, and a chip. I have not had the car apart since I bought it 2 years ago, but I know there has to be other mods to make the car run like it does. (Probably a high flow cat for one.)

I did some research and discovered that it was too expensive to supercharge this engine, and that I might as well just go get another car. Seeing as how I had extra money, was recently unengaged, and needed a car for the other state I live in, my Iroc was purchased.

The ironic thing, my grand prix is faster 0-60 then cars up to a new mustang gt (I can beat mustang gt level other then the brand new ones with ease to 60 (stock of course)), but its still slow once you hit about 60.

Here is a pic of her with the crappy stock wheels. She has not always worn these wheels(had a good set), but a bent rim took the good ones. The iroc is in the background.

Are you noticing a trend, yes the car is falling apart around me. I think the car did not take well to the mods and perhaps the previous owner ran her hard. I have had to replace over 2000 dollars in parts since I have owned her, just hit 100000 miles.
