Heh, not much detail. He's a cool guy. I guess his best time was in the mid 12's.

We both turned a corner and nailed it, and he pulled very very hard. I had no chance at all.

Mine actually never started off as a good race, but all the trash talking led to a showdown!

Me and a friend of mine were talking about running for a while and we were lined up at one of our events. I had the street tires on 225/55/16s and he had 27x11.5x15 QT pros on. We went and his 60' was in the mid 1.7 range and mine was a 2.2. He ended up going 12.7 at 106 to my 15.2 at 96! Needless to say after smoking the tires into second (my first powershift) and missing 3rd (my last powershift) I ended up pretty far back! he also treed me on the pro tree, .604 to a .811!!!

That run sucked!

A fox body notch Stang pulls up to at a light, skinnies , wide slicks, about 20-30 parts stickers on the hatch, other than that a good lookin car.

I knew I had no chance,we both took off normal, I wanted to see what he had, so I punched it, he was FUGGIN gone, he had bus lengths on me.... prolly about 10...

I pulled up to a light next to a nice yellow 56 ford pickup with a 40ish looking man and women in it. I was checking the truck out and they where looking at the gta. Light turns so we take off. Normal driving but I notice he's staying right with me. I look over and he's looking at me with a grin and we both hammer it. I pulled him for a few seconds but he laid in to it and left me like I was setting still. At my turn off they waved and I gave him a thumbs up. Couple of days later there was a cruise in so some friends and I went and checked it out. Lo and the guy was there with his truck and I found out he has a 11to1 406 roller cammed chevy with brodix heads and a tunnel ram. Pretty cool guy and a good race even if I did get my *** handed to me

raced a chevelle 454 (built) auto by about 8+ car lengths and ss camaro (full exhaust) auto by about 3 lengths.. same race that was a bad night. not sure if the chevelle gave it all but me and the ss got demolished by it... the ss i think mid 90s was giving it all.

97 was the only year LT1 SS
My worse loss was to a SC fox body mustang cobra.
just another ******* mustang on the Hwy, pulled up next to him on the Hwy, we looked at each other and punched it at the same time, he just walked on me. about a mile down the road we hit a huge traffic jam where everyone was stoped for like 20 mins, got out to talk to the guy, he poped his hood and went, "it's just a 302..."

In the camaro, the most embarrassing was to my friends ford taurus. It would beat me by 3 lengths to 80 mph, and it was very embarrassing. Of course Ive found very few cars that the camaro can actually beat.

With the Trans Am, my father's 67 camaro w/ a 454 has more than once shown me who is boss. I floored it, shifted it at 5300, everything perfect, and he just kinda pulls along side me (after I got the jump too) laughs and backs off. Of course the time his carb secondaries stuck shut and I pulled on him all the way to 70 (woulda passed him but i floated the springs at the top of 2nd) was funny. He popped the hood, fixed the choke and proceeded to blow my doors off yet again.

Had a Tiburan (sp?) eat my lunch I was driving home one night and busted a speedo cable on the way. SES light came on and the engine was running like ****. Of all the times for a riced out tiburan to pull up next to me at a red light with no traffic??? I figured I was in a lose lose situation. I don't race and I look like a pu$$y. I run and get spanked the guy tells all his friends that his super fast tiburan beat up on a camaro. Well I try to launch my camaro and it just falls flat on it's face. Missing like crazy and blowing major black smoke. Speedy burns me by 5-6 cars lenghts and keeps going. Then I get the hazzard lights flashed at me. grrrrrrr. I pull onto a side street near my house and the engine quits. It took me 10 mins to get it to fire again. Man does the computer fatten up the mixture when something fails!!

Unfortunetly I know the Tiburon story all too well.

Those new ones are not bad looking cars, especially compared to the previous years. I pulled up next to a 17 yr old kid in one. I kept up with him until he pressed the gas pedal

I don't even bother trying anymore. I pull up to every stop light hoping I land next to a stock Pinto. Maybe then I'd have a chance.

Heck...... I even got took by a rusted out POS '76 Plymouth Fury, 4dr w/ 360 under the hood. I was next to him until 45 MPH, then he turned into the Energizer bunny. He kept going and going and going. :lala:

Actually the SS was re introduced in 1996, so both the 96 & 97 SS Camaros were packin the LT1. 98 was the switch to the LS1 for those who don't know.

well it wasn't my worst loss but i was in my friends 92 cavalier and he decided to mess with a 91 or 92 vette. my friend floored it off the light and the vette caught up to us then stayed next to us at like 65-70 then he downshifted and spun the tires passed us i thought it was pretty damn funny. Same year vette did the same thing to my friends stang a few weeks later. then at the light he asked me if i wanted to but it fo 13g's

I raced a gutted, small block chevy powered (AFR 210 heads is only thing I KNOW he had on the engine) Porsche 911 in my IROC when I was out breakin-in the new engine. It was my first race with the new engine and I was still trying to learn how to drive the car, it went from a high 14 sec car to a mid 12 sec with the engine swap. I still had the stock, slipping tranny and torque converter and old Potenza street tires. I ROASTED the tires for a good 200 feet and finally let off the gas and gained traction, he had hooked and was gone.

gn`s and typhoon

i lost twice to turbocharged vehicles.i was lined up at the stoplight with a 86 gn ,as soon as the light turned green he was gone like in car lengths.the second race i pull up next to what i thought was a blazer.so the light turns green i gun it to get in front of the blazer.but this blazer kept with me and started to pull away.So eventually i was looking at the tailights. i also noticed that right next to the lights it said typhoon.

My worst was I was racing a 69 Camaro and this guy was suppose to back up in some Vht.Then my car was crooked.I pulled up and backed up and this was the second time we lined up so we were in a hurry to get the race on and when I took off I was in reverse and we lost 100 bucks.

There have been worst losses but one more recent (within the last 6 months) was to a fox body LX 5.0 coupe. He had a 306 that was just totally built. He ran 8.3s spinning half way down the track. He knew he had a traction problem so when we took off he feathered it while I gave it hell. I had him through first and most of second when all of a sudden I hear this thing catching gears all the way past me. He had about a car and a half on me by about 85. Damn sweet car. Oh well.....once the beast is up and running I'll have to go hunt'in. that was the last race I had before hitting a valve (which began a 6 month down time) .

worse loss on the street, had to be the C5 i raced from a 50mph roll. he put bus lengths on me. not really embarassing though, those things are deadly from a punch.

at the track had to be a 87' Ttype. he ran a 11.5 to my 13.5

My worst loss was when I pulled up next to an LS1 vert with 4 hot chicks in it. I know that I was going to get stomped, but they revved at me and I couldnt resist. I just got my *** handed to me on a silver platter.

worst loss ever was against an 02' mustang cobra. Not much to tell here, off the line he had me but i cought up and stayed about 2 car lenghts behind him the whole way... then we both let off the gas at around 100 mph. That was when my car was all stock tho, so i might have a better chance now

Lost to my buddy's 92 Mazda Protégé, 5-speed, lightly modded. Eek.

Yeah, I have BALD, I mean BALD tires. I just sat there and spun while he kept going... man do I need to get tires, that's just embarassing. LOL

Worst losses...

in '85 T/A
-miata (please dont laugh) that I later found out had a jackson supercharger.

in '98 T/A
-98 camaro 6 speed. I thought I was husstling him with my "stock" car...unfortunately he was also "stock". After racing him I found out that he had a LS6 crate motor with a 224/224 cam. He runs 12.5's consistantly (on street tires with major traction problems). I got him to agree to give me 2 car lengths off a flagged start. The first race we tied (he just about **** his pants), second race he won. Lost $80, but became friends with the guy afterwards. Now we make money as a team

my worst one was right after i gutted my catalytic converter..........mine was really clogged so when i gutted it my car ran great!!!......it sounded great and everything......i was soo excited so i took two of my friends down to lafayette(college town)........to find some action...........well we pull up next to this blue car that look TOTALLY riced out so i was like....alright he spent all of his money on the looks so it will b an easy win..........well we line up at the light and we both take off rather slow waiting for the other to gun it when i hear him start to floor it and i hear him shift and i hear a loud pssshh noise.......so i floor it and we were bout even then pssssh he hits another gear and pulls hard......his back bumper was at my front bumper by the time we got up to 40mph.......this really made me feel bad about my car cuz i coulda swore gutting the catalytic converter made it faster...........well i later found out that it was a WRX and that was his turbo i was hearing!!..........so then i didnt feel as bad

and it turned out that gutting the cat did help!
went from a 15.9 to a 14.7 ...my good ol H.O.e

My worst loss in my old 89 GTA was to a Neon. I heated up my Drag Radials and completly KILLED him off the line, but my carpet got stuck under my pedal and he eventually caught me. Then I talked to him a gas station and he said something like" I thought you were gonna kill me" Well anyway, you can believe I learned my lesson!!!

My buddy works at Speedtek in Dallas, and I met him at work. We were leaving and driving back to his house, him in his 88 SC and me in my 87 bird. I know his car is fast, so I decide to play with him and jump a bit. Well, I hammered it, pulled a bit, and then WHOOOSH he flies by me like I was in reverse...bastard.

He's got a Vortec 350 that he built off a $100 short block. GMPP intake, Holley 750 dp, 4" Mufflex (what a sound! ), and a built TH350 with 3.23's.

That car is quick....he never takes it to the track, though...my guess is mid/high 12's.

worst loss....

Well, it was like this...

I was out at Chili's one night and therre was a kid that worked there that was off work and sitting in the booth next to me and my brother. He overheard us talking about the new motor we were planing. He started talking all this trash and said that he would run me in his "stock" 1990 vette(all his lil buddies just howled and laughed when he said stock). I told him that all i had was a "stock" monte SS(did not mention my 350 TPI) but could probably take him. He kept on and I basicly blew him off but he kept on talkin trash. I basicly had enough and my brother and I were ready to leave so I left.

As I was getting into the SS, he drove in front of me and looked over at me, gave me the finger and floored it. Well, that was it, I put the SS in drive and floored it after him.

We both pulled out on the street in front of Chili's(6 lanes wide) and his buddy in the car was steady running his mouth out the passenger window. We were both running about 20MPH when we both nailed it. I took him the first go round.

We got to the light side by side. He still wanted to play. I dropped it into 1st and waited for the light. We left about even til I shifted 2nd then I pulled up a half a car on him. Next thing I know, I hear a bark of the tires and he flys past fogging pretty good out the tail pipes. He took me by about 2-3 car lengths. He was running N20.

Miata?

Best/worst kill would be my bro in his mid 80's GTI racing a Miata on the hwy, from about 50, it left him in the dust and was out of site, we later found it it had a 5.0 from a stang in it that was worked.

Raced a Viper twice on the final day of the season at Dragway 42. Won the first race when he missed a shift and shut it down. Second race he kicked my a$$! He ran a 12.8 to my 14.1. Track conditions were terrible. Everyone was running 3-4 tenths off their usual times. Still cool to go 1-1 with a Viper.

In my 83 Z28: All but one of the Fox body stangs I raced

In my 70 Pontiac LeMans: Escort GT

In My 02 Formula: all out race cars. I haven't raced a ***** out LS1 car yet. One with heads, cam, and nitrous would probably hurt.

not my race but i was a passenger in my buddies 89 rs with a 305 i think it ran mid 15s cuz i could keep half a car length on him with my jeep. nonetheless, we pulled up next to my dad's friend in his newly delivered 2001 ferrari 360 modena, we were talking at the light for a while and when it turned green my friend put the hammer down. the ferrari took it to probly 6000 in first shifted casually, reved to about 8000 dropped it in and that was the sweetest sound i have ever heard, between the pirellis spinnin and that awesome 5 valve hand built ferrari v8 screamin past us. he took my buddy by 10 cars before he let off, we went back and forth down the road for about a mile, we got to another light and laughed about it. then the next week he told my dad at a party. sorry about the length.

Let's see...i raced my friend's '85 CRX HF with a roaring 1.3L 68 HP engine and he used to make it a race when i had my slow old '87 LG4 formula with a T5. I raced my friend in his '90 CRX Si a few times with my own '89 CRX Si (daily beater). One night we raced two stoplights straight. My clutch was already sub-par so didn't want to be too hard on it. The first time i had the better reaction but i bogged (not wanting to launch real hard) and he got me off the line. No biggie. Next light, i bring the rpms up a little to about 3K. Light turns green and i let the clutch off and give it even more gas, again reacting faster. But this time, instead of getting the hole nice and quickly, my car sits there barely rolling while my tach needle swung all the way into the rev limiter at 7000. Pretty much ****ed the clutch. All i smelled was burning clutch and i could hardly nurse my car into the gas station to re-adjust the clutch cable just so i could get home.

Bad loss

One day last summer I was just cruisin around town in my GTA and at a light a 69 Camaro pulls up it was absolutly gorgeous it he must of had his whole life savings into the car and my buddy yells out the window to the guy lets go just for sh** and giggles when the light turned green the camaro was gone, i felt like i was driving a Honduh next to this in like a half a second he was gone. I knew i had no chance but i didnt think it would be that ugly. I found the guy later at one of our hang out spots with his car he had a blown 454 along with a whole lot of other stuff.
