I was out a few nights ago running a few errands since it was not that bad out I took the car out. Anyways I got hungry and headed torwards McDonalds to get a sandwhich. No one is really out, 10:30 or so on a Weds, going about 45, only 5 over, and I glance in my rearview mirror and see 2 pair of headlights about half a mile back that seem to be gaining on me rather quickly. I put that aside and keep on driving, a few secs later I look back and they are rather close, and I guess they were racing. So I keep on checking my rearview mirror and every glance they get closer, I am getting a little worried because I really do not feel like f^in around. Well I estimated they were about 30 or so feet behind me when I could here them still racing, since they did not appear to be slowing down, I went WOT, chirped my tires and hit about 70 and they were STILL racing. Stoplight a ways turned red, so I started braking a little early so I didnt have to kill my tires by braking hard. The retards notice that I am braking and get the idea that I am not going to run the redlight so they start to brake. This is the first time that I get to look at the cars. Behind me is a Civic and beside me is a new Cavalier. I had my window half way down and the Cav had its windows all the way down. The Cav had a "thug" driving it, typical Eminem clone, and his g/f. It still amazes me how these flamers get g/fs. I yell over to the driver that there are other people on the road, be more considerate, blah blah blah. He responds by revving at me, I just shake my head, and his g/f laughs and says its ok that I dont want to get my *** kicked, and how he just got a CAI put on. I look over and just give them this crazed smile and say you think that makes up for the huge lack of displacement ? She gives me a puzzled look and continues to try and rag on my car. Now this is just getting annoying, but partly amusing. So I ask her if her b/f drives a small car because he has a small labeto, she gave me a pissed look and told me to go f myself. At this time the other light is chaning and the Cav is revving his little pocket rocket into r^icer heaven, and the Civic is revving its little engine too. Light turns and the Cav amazingly chirped his tires for a whole 2 secs, while I just say there, the Civic lurched forward then braked because I hadnt moved. After the Cav made it through the intersection I put my foot on the gas and amazingly hooked right away(could be to new tires) and caught him at 35, 50 I had about a car, then at 70 I had 2-3 on him, I thin k I might have hit 75 at most, but no higher, and I saw the light ahead change so I slowed down, the Cav was still back there, no flyby. I am stopped at the light, sipping my Code Red as the Cav rolls onto my side, I just look over and smile and ask her what happened. She gave me a mean look, the driver wouldnt even look at me, when the Civic comes out of nowhere and rearends me. I felt the car shake, and I was WTF?!?! So I get out and look and the Civic was in pretty bad shape. The front skirt to its body kit was cracked all over, a few peices had fallen off. I was surprised the airbags hadnt gone off. Here is the bad part, I had scratches and rub marks all over my back bumper, damn him, he ruined my already faded rearend . The Civic driver gets out and looks at his front end and is almost on the verge of tears, kid is like 16, must have just gotten his liscence, and is yelling at me about how I suddenly stopped. I just asked him if he wanted to file a police report and he said no, I called a police freind of mine to come out and be a witness, by the time he got there the Civic owner had ran away scared as ****. My freind asked if I wanted to file a report, I said not worth his or my time, just wanted him to be a witness.

Some people do not even deserve to drive.

Good Kill. Sorry to hear about the accident. You could have takin the Cav from another light to make sure you proved your point. You should have made the kid pay. Perhaps some new paint, new year bumper, and a mechanic to check everything out. Hope nothing comes up later from the accident. Anyways, good race.

 

hey man at least its good to know that you are ok and not hurt..could have been much worse...well try and get that bumper and paint taken care of from the guys insurance and go through the extra hastle gettin him to pay...maybe it wil teach him a lesson and help him not to be a dumb A$$ typical RlCER driver!.....AARON

Honda is another company. Sometimes other companies can make better use of small displacement. (Honda is total **** in my experience and my opinion, though.) But anyway, MAYBE someone could get the idea that company A can make a faster 4 cylinder than company B can with 8 cylinders. For instance. Porsche makes very good use of only 6 cylinders. But...That explains the only possible- stupid, but possible reason the Honda Clowns believe they can win. But what about this Cavalier goof? It's a smaller engine made by the same company...what was he thinking? What was his loser girlfriend thinking? GM makes faster 4 cylinder economy cars than 8 cylinder sports cars???

Hmmm...This is going to require some serious thought...

 

Well my rear end was already ****ty because I bought it off a family freind who had just replaced it, was from a junkyard and the paint was faded in spots, so no real damage. I have to pay for my own insurance, which is rather high already, and filing a claim would have increased my rates a bit. Anyways it goes to show you that Hon-duhs are not built that tough.

 

What the hell! Since when is a chrome tube a mod that someone needs to take somewhere to install!

theres a kid at my school with an '01 civic(body kit, pepboys rims, fart can)that couldnt install his mad tite aem cai, so he had to take it somewhere to get it installed. i heard that and almost fell outta my chair

 

AS for the cavalier, i hear ya on that eminem wanna be scene. In chicago thats huge and theres soo many ricers. Is that the new cavalier thats suppose to be a 14 sec 4 cyl? or a diff one? Either way pretty good kill. As for the honda? yea if you went after him it sounds like he'd a pissed his pants. sorry about the bumper.....

 

Excellent point, but that's the difference between a $70,000 car (more like $115,000 if you're referring to the 911 Turbo), and a $15,000 car. At any rate, while any car manufacturer wants their engines to have some power, I'm sure that speed contests were hardly what the Honda engineers had in mind. The 350, on the other hand, was expressly designed with high performance intentions. How that fails to dawn on some of the people out there is beyond me. When I would run across the guys at the stoplight telling me their 2500 lb. car will whip my lead brick, I would just tell 'em that their 250-lb girlfriend is affecting their power-to-weight ratio by 10%!

Why does everybody bring up the really fast anomolies? We're never going to see the 14 sec Cavaliers or SRT Neons or "quad4" Berettas... they're either too expensive or too Rare...

I wonder if this is wide spread? Somebody in a hoduh gets whooped up on by a '87-'89 Trans am and they start telling their sob story on hondahookup... somebody probably chimes in, "Well maybe it was an '89 TTA" cause theres so many running around you gotta be careful... I meant no harm from my statement... it's just that I see someone post how they are going to race such and such a car and then somebody says "Well if it's the 3 made the supercharged 24 cylinder 300 valve quad overhead cam you're gonna lose so you better be careful" It's really unnecessary to make outrageous speculations... you're question isn't that far out thought... the turbo cavies are going to be pretty potent.

 

The new Cav LS Sport with a 5spd are supposde to hit high 15's I think. Yeah, but people get all worked up about the fact taht they might encounter some 12 sec Civic that was iin Turbo magazine so they try adn tell everyone to be careful because that 1 out of every 10000 Civic are actually modded. Peopke ust get too hyped up about rarre things.

 

When you finally do pull up next to that extra rare car, you'll probably find the driver is really bad or it's just some r*cer who put all the right body panels on to impersonate that car.
