had fun with a bronco 2 nights ago

I was on my way back to Rutgers around 2 in the morning with LYV18F doing about 65 on route one (anyone familar with rt.1 nj knows this area, its the speed trap where the rt.130 construction is). So i come up to the first light and a bronco is coasting up with me, when the light changes i go and blow past some car that was just gettin a start off from the light, not really tryin to do anything since i need to get my waterpump replaced. i see behind me the bronco's headlights flying up behind me and switching into the middle lane and tryin to race past me. Well the light changed yellow and when we got to the light i wasn't gonna race, but i could see the guy look over and he had a bunch of people in the truck (i figured he was tryin to impress his gf or something), so when the light changed he jumped on it and chirped the tires, i went normally and then decided to have some fun with him, so i blew past him and when i hit 80 i started to coast down. Well he gets on the side of me and guns it again, so i gun it back up to 90 and leave him behind. My turn came up so i slowed down and got off the road, but it was fun to kick his *** anyways

Those things rarely reach their potential. It's a shame really, since they can be cool vehicles. Was it a Bronco or Bronco II? Did it sound like a v8? It is was one of those 2.9L II's...he's a sick man for thinking he could win. They are reliable- got a postman with 345K on his 2.9...
How fast is that Daytona anyway? I know nothing about those cars...

I still think the coolest thing I've ever seen at the dragstrip was that bronco II launching with 3 wheels off the ground en route to a mid 11 second ET.

:hail: any suv that could whip my ***

Abel Kane....The bronco sounded like either it was a 8 or it had a nice freeflow exhaust (or both), i dont think it was a bronco II actually because it didnt say it on the back (although it was dark and i wasnt payin attention), it was pretty nice looking, it had nice big mud tires on it,it was really dirty though. My daytona stock is 141hp/ 175lbs of torque and weighs approx. 3050 without a driver, the only mod i have on it is a K&N, so its around 143hp. I havent had a chance to take it to the track, i know it runs 0-60 in about 8.9 seconds...not exactly something to brag about, but its a good little car. Although as i said in my first post, its leakin antifreeze like crazy, i think both my radiator hoses and waterpump are leakin, anyone know how expensive it is to replace that and a timing belt? I went to a shop near me and he estimated 425 for labor and parts, but that sounded alittle expensive, especially when i found out that parts are only around 100. I also know this doesnt belong in theoretical racing, but i figure someone who reads this will know something about it.

I hate Bronco II's. The coolest one I've seen though was a few years ago this guy had one all jacked up with big tires and wicked sounding exhaust. I walked up to the guy and said you better have some meat under the hood for that exhaust to be so loud. He opened the hood and to my suprise was a Twin Turbo 5.0. One bad motha and was fast as hell.

My friend got into a short race (he made it short catch my drift) with one of those recntly. He drives a 99 Alero with True CAI, Headers, Catback, and Stage one heads from RSM. Pretty quick for a 3.4SFI. This kid gunned it on him at a light and when my friend realized he in turn punched it and left the poor 16 year old wondering why his 80's suv wasn't keeping up at all

Daytonadan...From the 8.9 seconds to 60, I would guess 16.?? on the 1/4. You should race something like a 90 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera with the 3300 Buick v6. That should be a close race. If you win, that immediately says low 16s to me.
My brother has the 90 Ciera. I raced him in the Taurus. He was alone. I had two other lightweight people in the car. He totally fried me. It was pretty even and then he just pulled. And that was just to 40 mph or thereabouts. The Taurus isn't running perfectly yet. Needs a tuneup. It should be in the 17s.
